The 50 ball that [player_tooltip player_id='883552' first='Braylyn' last='Birmingham'] recorded last night was one of the most efficient outings we have ever seen at the high school level. Birmingham finished with 50 points on 16/28 shooting, 4/8 from deep, and 14/15 from the free throw line in total in their 82-44 victory. That's right. You saw that final score correctly, meaning that Birmingham single handed out-scored the opposing team by herself. It's still early for D1 programs to be talking to prospects out of the 2028 Class until June 1st but once that date comes, I'm sure that Birmingham's phone is going to be ringing off the hook because she can flat out produce on any floor and that's going to translate to the next level at the end of the day.

CAM High School had a hard fought battle last night against #14 Coon Rapids-Bayard. In the end, the Cougars came up short but that is not due to a lack of effort. One of CAM's best overall prospects, who left her mark in multiple facets of this contest is CG - Ada Hansen. Hansen ended up leading the team with a double-double in points-rebounds. In total she finished with 14 points (5/10) and 16 rebounds, demonstrating her calculated aggression on both sides of the floor as she attacks the glass. I really like Hansen's game because she plays with a ton of energy. She doesn't really step outside the three point line to shoot. Instead, she maneuvers inside within 17FT of the hoop and makes things happen. Something you love to see from an outside point-of-view.

If we are speaking of players posting consistent double-doubles in their efforts then it's hard not to bring up Cadence Shiflett of Diagonal High School. Shiflett is a 6'0 PF/C, that handles and controls the space around the paint in an impressive way. Not to mention, she is a source for top-notch rebounding on both ends when she is motivated. Last night in Diagonal's 18 points W, Shiflett registered a 20/20 outing. 20 Points and 20 Rebounds in total along with 6 blocks on the defensive side of the ball. It seems to me that Shiflett understands and knows her role within her team's system. She sticks to the middle of the lane and because of that, she see's a lot of production in-between-the blocks. As long as they continue to focus on the little things as a group, they should continue to see success as we move out of the Regular season this next week.

Sometimes at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you came out with the victory. The stat lines are just a little extra icing on the cake. Honor Hovenga of Janesville High School is someone that understands that. She is willing to do whatever it takes for the good of her team. She is the primary ball-handler and decision maker for her group but that doesn't change the fact that she would sacrifice anything to watch her team win. Hovenga did everything in her power last night against Cedar Ridge Christian to come out on top but it just wasn't enough. That is okay. That happens. The most important part is that she left it all out on the floor, giving everyone around her an example of what it means to be a gamer. Hopefully that's something everyone else can build on moving towards the end of their regular season.

If you are looking at the Kingsley-Pierson High School team as a whole and where they have had success this Winter, then it's easy to see that SF - Julia Howe is their, "glue girl", with the type of overall production she is having whenever she laces up her kicks. Howe is an undersized SF at 5'8 but she competes more like a CG with how she can assist others, lead her team in rebounding, while also being a scoring threat on the offensive end. In K.P.'s battle last night Howe finished with a diverse stat line of 10/8/3, showing off a little bit of everything within her arsenal. She scored when those opportunities presented themselves, she hit the boards hard with some solid rebounding skill, and she even assisted a few others into some easy buckets in transition. Overall, it was a good showing for Howe and Company. Now they just need to lock in for the Playoffs.
