I got to see a fairly entertaining game between Middleton and Milwaukee Academy of Science out in Middleton. The Lady Novas of Milwaukee Academy of Science ended up taking that game 72-68, and I'll actually be out again in the Madison area today, but in the city to watch Wisconsin welcome in the Indiana Hoosiers for a Big Ten matchup. However, before I head west later, we'll look at some players who may have a role to play in the postseason over the next month and a half.

[player_tooltip player_id='882114' first='Ariell' last='Allen']

I watched Allen play last night in Middleton. I thought she played an excellent game. Allen also balanced being an aggressive scorer with being a playmaker. She finished the game with six assists by my count, and got her teammates involved whenever she was on the floor, especially in the second half. However, in the first half, she showed what she could do as a player who can hunt their own shot and create her own shot off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='751259' first='Hayden' last='Lauer']

In the junior's first season of high school basketball, she had a role off the bench where she was asked to defend at a high level. The Kettle Moraine Lutheran Chargers have an opportunity to win a gold ball this season, and if they do, [player_tooltip player_id='751259' first='Hayden' last='Lauer'] will have to be an excellent defensive player at the point of attack. There are talented guards that she will have the chance to slow down on the perimeter, and if she does, the Chargers will have an opportunity to bring home some hardware to Jackson, Wisconsin.

[player_tooltip player_id='1241213' first='Evelyn' last='Borcherding']

The 6'5 post at Regis has the physical tools that no other player in the state has, and she's had her moments in her first season of high school basketball. Borcherding has been willing to use her physicality to help her control the area around the basket, and she's improved her touch around the basket from the first time I watched her play this past summer. She is a player who can swing a game based on the physical tools she brings to the floor, and she's been building her game well around her size and physicality.

[player_tooltip player_id='874373' first='Brooke' last='Wellnitz']

In Division 5, there isn't a frontcourt player quite like Wellnitz. The Argyle/Pecatonica forward is a solid athlete who can help set the tone in their press, and she's one of the more aggressive rebounders you'll find in Wisconsin. Small school games can often be won on the margins, and Wellnitz is a player who can help her team win every 50/50 ball, win the battle on the boards, and help force live-ball turnovers at any point defensively.
