Whoever comes in to grab [player_tooltip player_id='833954' first='Claire' last='Storhoff'] is getting a steal out of Iowa. Mainly because she was hurt for the majority of her Sophomore high school season so people may have forgotten but this is someone that I would consider PG #1 within a program. The way she conducts herself and plays with control of the pace of play is noteworthy. That's something that you can't necessarily teach. It just comes natural and we see that out of Storhoff. I'm sure that we are going to see a impactful season on the road out of the Lady Martin Bros program. They will be led by Storhoff as their starting PG so she is going to have plenty of opportunities to build off of the momentum she just put in place this past season for her Junior year with Decorah.

Phillips is coming off of a successful high school season after her Johnston team went undefeated. The eventually hoisted the 5A State trophy at the end of the Winter for the 3rd straight Winter after going undefeated for another go-around. Phillips might not of been their go-to prospect on their side of the ball but she showed up plenty in her own ways. She started several contests, making the most of her attempts on the offensive end. She also played sound defense as a whole, never showing that she was a liability or a problem on that side of the floor in any way. I know the Phillip sisters would want to play together for college if they both play at the next level so that makes Daya a very interesting recruit. She would starter on almost every 5A program in Iowa so the natural talent level is obviously there. Now it's all about finding the right fit for the future. If I'm a coach on the road this Winter, this one is definitely I'm keeping an eye on.

We had the chance to see [player_tooltip player_id='833955' first='Sasha' last='Baldwin']'s shooting ability up close and personal a number of times this Winter. Baldwin, a 5'7 SG/PG, loves to work off of the ball out of the Wing position. She is more of a hooper that likes to be ready off of someone else's creation at the PG spot but if she needs to, she can also move over to run her team's offense as a pass-first PG. All in all, we saw glimpses of a lot of great things once again out of Baldwin on a fairly loaded Iowa City West team over the past four months. Her AIA team is also going to be loaded so as long as she plays her game and stays within her own ability, she should stand out as one of their most consistent producers as the Spring moves forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='766457' first='Rylie' last='Fugate'] competed with an aggressive edge this Winter for her Junior season and that was nice to see out of someone who has college level potential in her future. Fugate did everything she could this Winter without forcing any unneeded action. Offensively, she shot the ball well off the catch, she got to her spots for open looks off the dribble, she finished at the bucket with defenders around her, and she was selfless enough to hit her open teammates when those situations would unfold off of her creation into the teeth of the defense. Defensively, she held her own and matched up pretty well with whoever was placed in front of her. AAU ball is so much different than high school in Iowa but I think Fugate is ready to put together a successful Spring campaign this season. As long as she can speed up with the game like everyone else, she should be someone we hear about more and more as the AAU season goes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='833962' first='Avary' last='Besler'] was the leading APG player for her Anamosa High School team this Winter. This comes to no surprise to anyone that understand Besler's game-style. She is a smooth operator as someone that can lead by example. She knows how to handle pressure with the dribble and she understands situational awareness better than most her age when she gets into the open floor. This Winter I would chalk up to a learning experience for Besler. Her team took their lumps but in the end, she is a better overall prospect because of it and that is going to suit her on the road this AAU season with her AIA program.
