Nogales and Sunrise Mountain Loaded with Future Stars

Sunrise Mountain has had a lot of playoff success in recent years and the future continues to look bright as several young players are making an impact. Nogales also has some young players that continue to develop and should propel the Lady Apaches in the coming years to be a factor in the 5A Playoffs. The two squared off in the round of 16 in this year's 5A Divisional Playoffs and the game was close as expected.    [player_tooltip player_id='1050012' first='Lexi' last='Chavez'] is a sophomore and she had an excellent game almost posting a triple double. She ended the game with 20 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 steals. She is a very good shooter especially in the mid range and around the basket. She is an excellent defender that can cover guards or forwards, and she is very active in the paint as a rebounder. Look for her to continue to grow her game and be an All Region Player the next two years.     [player_tooltip player_id='1050010' first='Arlette' last='Munoz'] is one of the top 2028's in Arizona in my opinion. She is a terrific shooter from all 3 levels. She is an excellent ball handler that can handle the ball in pressure situations. She is also a good passer that sees the floor well and gets the ball to open players consistently. Arlette can also defend well and her length and athleticism can cause fits for other guards.     Victoria Bojorquez will add some depth and size as Nogales looks to be a top Region contender next season. Bojorquez is a very good defender. She moves well and can cover guards and forwards. She is a good rebounder and she is tough to score on in the paint. She is a good shooter and ball handler, and she will continue to get better as she gains more experience and skill development.      Jizelle Ramirez had a terrific game against Nogales. She was the primary ball handler and she was also a terrific distributor, especially into the post. She is very fast in transition and can give other teams fits trying to recover and defend. She is a good shooter, and she can also drive the ball when given the opportunity. Jizelle is a solid defender and will be a very good point guard for Sunrise Mountain the next two years. Look for her game to continue to grow and develop as she is a tireless worker in the off season.      Emma Nielson earned All Region honors as a Sophomore this season and she provided some much needed scoring from the outside vs. Nogales. The Lady Apaches were doubling standout Center [player_tooltip player_id='837250' first='Addison' last='Wiemann']. That provide opportunities for Emma to hit from the 3 point line which she did. She has a terrific stroke for a sophomore, and she is deadly from the baseline corner. She is a very good all around player that will continue to improve. Emma will be a college prospect in the next two years.     [player_tooltip player_id='837250' first='Addison' last='Wiemann'] is an outstanding Center that despite her terrific skill in basketball, her leadership and communication was even more impressive. She is solid in the paint on offense. She is constantly facing double teams and she can either score off of post moves or hit open players with excellent passes. She is a terrific rim protector, altering shots, blocking shots, and forcing players to give up on the drive to the basket because of her presence. She is Region Player of the Year, and could play Division I basketball in my opinion, but apparently Wiemann is playing Division I Volleyball instead.
