Saturday, March 7th I attended the OPEN Championship at Arizona Veteran's Memorial Stadium with Millennium Tigers vs Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles. SDO controlled the game for most of the 1st half but the Millennium's experience and toughness on the glass shined thru and ended up winning in OT 58-52. Millennium out-rebounded SDO 41-29, which proved to be one of the key deciding factors.

Here were the Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1255336' first='Amaya' last='Ribbens'] Millennium (Pictured)

The MVP of the OPEN Chip was Ribbens. She has great hands to catch tough passes inside and go up quickly to score. She has good form and touch to extend it out with mid-range jumpers to the three point line. She actually hit a clutch one in a key moment. She will fall away from her defender and she is an incredible rebounder in her area scoring with put backs. She scored 17 points with 6 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='796844' first='T'Maea' last='Eteuati'] Millennium

A tough guard who can seamlessly play on or off the ball. The Colgate commit is a good on-ball defender to pester her opponents which sometimes leads to offense on the other end with layups or getting fouled. She has a natural feel to make a play and rebounds well with her strong frame. She scored 6 points with 9 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='751754' first='Dashia' last='Richardson'] Millennium

One of the top juniors in the state is skilled, tough and confident. She made some impressive needle threaders for dimes and scores it every way with floaters, crow hops, contested layups using her tight handle and knows how to changes speeds. She will take charges and has quick hands on defense. She finished with 14 points 4 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='797311' first='Mariah' last='Brownlee'] Millennium

A tall wing forward continued her strong two-way play. She scores with tough downhill takes in heavy traffic and can use euro steps and quick bursts. She will take the ball off the glass and score with put backs. She rebounds the ball exceptionally well and collect steals. She scored 13 points with 13 rebounds and 3 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='751756' first='Jayda' last='Hunt'] Millennium

A tough power forward does a lot of the dirty work for the Tigers. She scores with offensive rebound put backs, boxing out like you should and will close out to shooters. She seems to collect steals in bunches and finished with 2 points 4 rebounds 1 assists and 3 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='1255332' first='Brooklyn' last='Williams'] Millennium

A versatile guard who makes her money on the defensive end. She can defend most positions on the court and is a very good rebounder. She often gets trips to the free throw line with her aggressive play and is a sneaky good passer. She finished with 6 points 3 rebounds 1 assist and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='603672' first='Audrey' last='Bhesania'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger wing forward who can do a little bit of everything. She handles the ball very well and will make a play like a guard. She shoots it easily from the three point line off the catch or pull and can dribble and create her own offense to the basket. She scored 10 points with 14 rebounds 4 assists and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='723419' first='Ava' last='Schooler'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A combo guard who had somewhat of a breakout game. She is a natural downhill player who can carve her way down the lane and she will hit the three. She has speed in the open court and has a quick first step to get downhill. She will collect steals and scored 22 points with 3 rebounds 3 assists and 4 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='925236' first='Francesca' last='Sofia'] Sandra Day O'Connor

An undersized scoring point guard is a next level passer. She will throw some ropes up the court and is a shot maker. She has a nice looking shot from the three point line and can get to the rim. She is also scrappy on defense. She scored 8 points with 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='979540' first='Teriise' last='Lancaster'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A scoring point guard has a true strap from the three point line. The ball comes off her hands so easily. She will also get into the lane keeping her handle alive and get fouled or use the floater. She finished with 8 points 4 assists and 1 steal.
