2027 Rankings Update: Combo Guards in the Top 70

After actively evaluating prospects during the high school season, we now have 425 juniors listed, with 270 ranked heading into the AAU season. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.   Taking data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes into consideration, there could be approximately 410 prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't play travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, my expectations moving forward are that there could be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class. Applying that understanding to our rankings basically means that, depending on the class, the top 20 ranked prospects project as D1/D2+, 21-50 D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, 51 and beyond could range anywhere from NAIA/D3 varsity, NAIA/D3 reserve, or JUCO, depending on the college program.   Here are nine combo guards who secured a higher ranking in our latest update.     After shattering Michigan scoring records during her junior season at Mio and winning PGH Junior Player of the Year honors, Mia turned in an impressive All-Tournament First Team performance for Mystics 2027 P24 at the PGH MI College Tour. Her versatility, skill, physical strength, ability to create separation with her dribble, and dominance against AAU clubs featuring D1 talent proved to us that she belonged at the #2 spot in our latest rankings update. We felt the D1 offers would be pouring in soon and after a standout live period at The Clash, Mia now holds a Power Four offer from Northwestern while also picking up a MAC offer from Bowling Green State University.     Taylor received recognition as AP D2 All-State Second Team, averaging an eye-popping 17.3 points, 12 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 5.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. She was mentioned as a Top Performer at the LBI April Showers Classic. Taylor rebounds, defends, penetrates off the dribble, finishes through contact, competes with a high motor, and sees the floor. She has length and athleticism that translate to the college game.     Aubrey made a great impression on our scouts during the PGH Great Lakes Kickoff. Her physical strength, sound footwork, efficiency around the basket, work ethic, effort, and defensive impact were all separators at the tournament. Aubrey has a deadly accurate three-point shot, and she's secured multiple offers from NAIA/D3 college programs in the state.     Sophia earned recognition as the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase MVP in March, turning in an impressive two-way performance. She set a single-season record with more than 60 threes and averaged 17 points per game for Airport. Sophia has at least 11 offers from a variety of NAIA/D3/JUCO colleges.     Ellie received recognition as First Team All-UP following a stellar junior campaign at Houghton. Her length, athleticism, and active hands on the perimeter rack up deflections and steals. Ellie has a confident shot from beyond the arc and works hard to secure rebounds. She sees the floor, handles the ball comfortably with both hands, and finishes at the rim.     Mylah received AP D3 All-State recognition after averaging 17.7 points (43.1% FG%) and three assists per game for Saugatuck. She reached the 1,000 point summit and guided the Trailblazers to a District title. Mylah is dangerous from three-point range, switches hands comfortably in the open court, and finishes full-speed layups with a soft touch around the basket. She has the length and skill few guards can match on the court.     Jaynie buried six triples in January to help DeWitt upset Haslett and came through in the clutch to help the Panthers make a memorable postseason run to the State Semifinals. She's a sniper from beyond the arc, handles the ball confidently, finishes at the rim with her right or left, works hard on the defensive end, and contributes as a rebounder. Jaynie has been red hot from three-point range to start the travel season for MBA UA Rise and looks poised for a breakout spring.     Peyton received KLAA All-Conference honors, averaging 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for the Mustangs. Her aggressive defense, length, hard-nosed drives to the basket, skilled passing, and toughness made her a top performer during Northville's regular season matchup against Mercy. Peyton is off to a great start this spring for Michigan Goonies 17U E40. She holds offers from Alma and Albion.     Emory has been one of the biggest stock risers over the past few months. She averaged 13.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, receiving recognition as River City Alliance First Team All-Conference. Her size, strength, slashing ability, three-point shooting, and disruptive defense caught attention at the Grassroots Spring Opener. Emory was recognized again at the Battle in the Mitten and is off to a great start for [program_tooltip program_id='1226083' first='West' last='Michigan Drive'] 17U Bowers this spring. She holds offers from Kalamazoo College, Aquinas, and Trine.
