We have seen a lot of impressive skill on the court this AAU season already out of the 8th grade class and this is only the tip of the iceberg. There is still a lot more yet to come this Spring/Summer and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

There is a lot of debate right now for who is the top 2030 in the state of Iowa. One of the prospects in that current conversation of debate is Aubra Meyer of North Linn High School. Meyer is a force on the court. She stands right around 6'0 and she plays with a lot of physicality. With that being said, she is skilled enough that she can bring things out to the perimeter and compete as a guard whenever she has an advantage against a slower opponent as well. If she ever has a height advantage in the post, she is going to bury you and if she is playing against someone taller, she is very good at going through that individual in one way or another for a clean look. Defensively, she competes. She makes plays down the floor on almost every possession and she never lets anyone else control the middle of the lane unless it's one of her teammates. Meyer already checks off most boxes evaluators and recruiters around going to have about her. Now she just have to keep up the domination and she'll be on a collegiate court in no time.

The shooting ability of the Joens family always seems to travel. We have seen that first hand with Bailey Joens for a couple of weeks now on the road. As you might be able to imagine, this a high level scoring prospect that has been taught how to attack the defense in a number of different ways depending on the situation. Right now her best ability is definitely letting it fly from deep behind the three point line but we have also seen her dribble it into the midrange and all the way to the basket in some instants whenever she is being forced to dribble the ball so it's really a pick your poison situation. I would be shocked if Joens didn't start as a Freshman on Varsity within the next six months. Her ability to light the nets on fire in itself is enough to make a statement so anything else she brings to the table is just a plus.

If you don't know the name Lauren Harkins already, you should learn it because she is going to be someone we mention a lot over the next 4 years at the high school level at Waukee. The best part about Harkins is that she is a complete guard. She can basically do it all for you at the CG position. She likes to attack from the outside more than anything but she can also use her body near the bucket for some easy points. Her understanding of situations, her touch on the ball, and her ability to adapt in the blink of an eye makes her impossible to stop once she gets within 10 feet of the hoop on the side of the things. If Waukee can bring their team together this upcoming season and get one goal in mind they could make some things happen over the next couple of seasons.

As long as Aubrey Danler can tighten up her decision making as she steps onto the Varsity floor in six months, she should be able to see an ample amount of court time with their current roster in hand. Danler is another length prospect that can shoot and pass the ball at a higher rate than most. She really likes letting shots go from deep off a step back but she can also get closer to the hoop for other attempts when determined. With her reach she can switch on defense pretty effortlessly between positions and that helps her stick on the floor when others are getting pulled off. I have a feeling during this Winter it's going to be Danler's team in a sense so she should have a chance to show what she can do early on in the year as long as everything goes according to plan.

Cedar Falls High School has some memorable players coming in these next few years to help them along the way. Someone in that category, who is going to be an impact prospect right away when she steps on the Varsity floor is Caylee Dickey. Dickey has that mixture of size, coordination, and ability that all coaches love to see at a younger age. She plays the game of basketball within her own pace while always being someone that can get a shot up as the shot clock is going to expire on the offensive end. She is going to be good for not only a few buckets per outing but for a handful of rebounds as well. Her natural length is going to give her an edge in that category and I'm sure she is going to use it.
