The first Prep Girls Hoops event in Kansas wrapped up Sunday. Andover's Farha YMCA hosted the first Kansas Kickoff, attracting 13U-17U teams from four states. While the caliber of play was consistently strong most players clearly did not have their multiple games a day summer legs yet. Several players consistently stood out. The five below have been selected to the 15U division's first team. Be sure to revisit the previously released second team.

Toliver split time between her club's 17U and 15U teams. She showed off a strong handle, quickness and athleticism off the bounce and consistently strong perimeter shooting with range. She was very tough in transition due to her handles, solid speed and strong finishing ability. Translating quickness into defensive prowess with physical strength will be something to watch in the years ahead. The quicks, with good length for her size, she brought were disruptive to all but the strongest ball handlers.

Hutchinson showed off good hops on her mid-range shot and when rebounding as well as a consistently good motor. She was one of the most impactful players in the division. She was a continuous threat to score at all three levels and handled the ball in transition with speed.

The Newkirk forward was Woo's most consistent scorer. Her scoring repertoire included catching and finishing off the cut, whirling and using other ball skills to beat defenders off the dribble and hitting mid-range jumpers. On both ends she was always around the bucket. While she filled multiple positions on both ends her current skill set is is ideal on the wing or playing the stretch or point forward spots.

Kraft's impact offensively was not keyed by just any one thing. Her steadiness passing the ball on the perimeter kept things moving and she used her handles well to create space. She also knocked down three point shots. Work off the ball defensively was very solid. Kraft was sure to find and maintain contact, enabling her to challenge cutters and quickly box out when shots go up.

Houston's athleticism and speed are solid, enabling her to take advantage of space created when defenders are drawn out due to her perimeter shooting. Houston will bury jumpers off the catch and dribble and will pull out a the quick release jump shooting. She will be one to watch in the years ahead as her defensive physicality increases.
