Five courts of action at the Park School of Baltimore with teams converging from five states to compete in front of PGH scouts and to test themselves against other top teams. This event is the perfect tune up to lead into May. It was well organized and games stayed on schedule. The matchups were good as most games were competitive and PGH staff members were roaming the sidelines to get a lock on all of the action. Here are some day one standouts that caught our eye.

Nevaeh was a one woman wrecking crew. With her team down by 14 points she chased down an opponent with what appeared to be an easy fast break layup and sent the ball into the brick wall. A couple of plays later, she sent a three point attempt soaring two courts over. She awakened her team with her high flying theatrics but she wasn't done. A steal she turned into a layup, another basket and foul followed by some razzle dazzle to the rim and suddenly it was a two point game with less that 30 seconds to play. She was the definition of a game changer on day one.

Amira showed a lot of confidence going into her bag with an assortment of moves. She executed a fadeaway of off the spin move that caught my attention from the next court. I needed a closer look and witnessed her get to the line repeatedly as defenders tried to contain her. Her shot was clicking and you could tell she knew that there wasn't anyone on the court that could stop her from doing whatever she wanted to do.

Jordan may not look the part but keep looking. She has some tricks that will have defenders dancing. Her handle is pretty solid and she executes drill moves in the game like defenders are cones. She has a good touch on her shot and a nice pull-up off of the dribble. She plays well with the ball in her hand and off the ball and needs to be a focus because if you overlook her it could me trouble.

Makayla diving full out stretch for a loose ball gained my respect, Makayla weaving the full court through five defenders for a layup kept my attention. Then there was the Makayla that dribbled down into the pull-up jumper, and oh yes the Makayla that knocks down the three. Needless tot say we were impressed with Ms. Brooks on day one and are looking for more in the day two action.

Charlie had a slow start missing her first few but after that she was on fire. It only too a trip to the line which she followed with a pull up jumper then a three. After that every time i looked up it seemed like she was making a play on the floor. If not scoring it was with her defense. She had a solid day one and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
