Underrated Prospects From The Classic

True hoopers know, see, and respect an opposing player's game or their body of work. It may be how they shoot the pill. It may be how they get to the rim. It may be how they set someone up to get to their favorite spot. It may be a hustle. So many things one could do to earn another's respect.    As I was going up and down the convention center in Louisville, I noticed multiple people who just played a certain way. I love seeing someone playing with determination and grit. Who cares about the score? I want to see someone give their all despite whatever is going on. How do they handle adversity? What do they do if they aren't successful on that possession? How do they interact with their teammates? Stuff like that is what I like to see, just beyond the normal statistical things.   Another thing I would like to point out is that we have many talented girls who hoop. Sometimes they are overlooked, overshadowed, and not shown enough love. They are underrated, but as I always say, their breakthrough will come one day. You just have to keep working at it.   Here are a few underrated prospects from Louisville that got my attention.    She may be undersized, but she plays with such passion for the game. Love the way she distributes the ball, gets to her spots to score, and just rallies the troops. She is going to go hard at an opponent on both ends of the floor. She's tough. When playing her, you have to bring your best. She is a selfless leader who makes a difference any time she is on the floor. Look for her stock to increase as more people take notice of her game.     Known as a sharp shooter from the arc, she's added to her game. Those who know this young lady know she has range to her game. This weekend, it was like she was setting people up as she not only dialed it up from deep, but didn't hesitate to go get a bucket around the rim. She was solid on defense, making it tough for opponents to operate. Her game is growing, and she is playing with a lot of confidence. She is one to watch down the stretch for sure.     Though she is already ranked high, I feel she doesn't get enough credit for her game. Lately, it's like she's developed a killer instinct. Playing fast and free, she is able to drop daggers in the opposition on the offensive end. Getting buckets from 3 and going downhill, her offensive game has reached another level. She's strong on defense, too, being in a stance and in position to make a play. Overall, this young lady is becoming a rising star. It will only be a matter of time before she starts to climb higher on coaches' radars.     Versatile kid who has great size. A solid two-way player who doesn't rest on either end of the court. She dialed it up a notch on the defensive end, causing havoc for opponents as she put them in tough spots to either score or make decisions. Offensively, she got after it. She utilized her quick first step to attack the floor and displayed an impressive ability to shoot the 3-ball. Playing with a lot of confidence, she is putting everyone on notice as we are witnessing a special talent. Look for her stock to continue to rise.     A hard-working kid who just played with a motor. She got to her spots on the floor to knock down shots. Played hard-nosed defense, really impacted the game in a multitude of ways. Loved her hustle, how she distributed the rock to her teammates. There wasn't one moment when she wasn't getting after it. No matter the score, she was active somewhere on the floor. She's a heady ballplayer who plays every possession as if it were her last. Keep tabs on this young lady; she's an effective two-way player who makes a difference.
