You have to like the versatile play that Taylor Rypkema brings to the floor whenever she laces up her kicks because she knows how to GO as a Small Forward. Rypkema is a standing 5'10, she has a soft touch on the ball, coordinated balance, she isn't afraid to get physical with anyone else around her, she is efficient in whatever she is trying to accomplish, and she has discipline to stay down on shot attempts or pump fakes defensively. She has already had State appearances with her Central Lyon High School program and she competes for a well-known AAU program in Team Warwick, that is going to bring attention to her game on the road. When you combined all of these factors together, you get someone that could have a ton of momentum moving into the college level one day as long as she stays dedicated to the process.

You name it as the coach and Maleeah Adams will do it. You ask her to jump, she will ask how high? You ask her to defend the biggest player on the other team? Done. You want her to move positions on the floor to make room for someone else on her team to have success? Easy. From an outside perspective you want someone that is going to give you every once of what they have in their tank when they play and Maleeah Adams is like that. She might not be the tallest as a SF but she has heart and that heart helps her produce on both ends against any competition in her way. Adams is going to be one of her team's leaders again this Winter at the Varsity level. Now it's time to see what she has picked up in the off-season as we move into the month of July.

Payton Kettmann almost averaged a double-double last Winter as a Sophomore in points-rebounds while standing right around 6'0 at the basket. Kettmann basically handled the paint all Winter long. She controlled the traffic moving through, she made it tough for opponents to get simple and clean looks at the rim, she defended her own position at a better rate than most, and she was really efficient in everything she did overall as a hooper. We didn't hear about this Bellevue team last Winter but that's going to change this upcoming season. They have some playmakers on roster and I can't wait to see what they put together as the Winter wears on.

Iowa City Liberty High School is going to have a lot of opportunity this upcoming Winter with the new changes to their staff and roster as a whole. That should leave a lot of chances for players who haven't had a fair shake yet, players like Maya Robbins-Sanchez. Robbins-Sanchez is one of the more sounds players that we have seen out of the SF position. She also has the ability to step out and spread the floor as a CG but she is at her most natural as a Forward, moving around the bucket. It's always important to have size on the court when playing against tough competition so I think that Robbins-Sanchez might be hard to take off the hardwood this Winter. If she continues to show her worth, it wouldn't shock me. She has had a respectable AAU season and I'm sure she is going to finish that with a bang as we move into the month of July.

We have said it for years now. Jenna Dunlap is the shining light of Camanche High School and their WBB roster as a whole. Dunlap, the 6'0 PF, is just too much to handle most of the time for their competition level. If you have anyone under 5'10 without some muscle mass on them, it's going to be a long night if they have to matchup against Dunlap. She is able to go over you for a simple bucket if you are shorter and if you aren't as strong, she can go right through you and finish with contact. I would say this is someone that navigates near the hoop most of the time but she can spread out the floor to screen-and-roll from the outside as well when need be. Dunlap is going to average great numbers once again this upcoming season. There is just no way around that fact. Now it's all about how far she can take her group come Playoff time.
