Hope College hosted many talented high school prospects from Michigan and a handful of college prospects from additional states across the country during their elite camp on June 6th. The staff integrated their program pillars: respect, resilience, compete, and joy into the camp experience. Participants experienced tangible lessons and application opportunities throughout the day. The college staff and current players led all participants in drills and games. Prospects had the opportunity to experience drills used at practice by Hope College. The pace was fast and camp very organized, time-oriented, and meticulous in its structure. Every prospect wore a numbered reversible during camp, which made it easier for me and the coaches to evaluate them. Participants were all given a T-shirt to take home as well.

A few memorable points shared by the college staff that stood out to me included being an everyday person on and off the court, Hope's women's basketball team last season held a 3.7 GPA (highest varsity GPA average at Hope College), all players complete their degrees at Hope in 3.5-4 years, every senior from the program has a job or continued their education as a graduate student, and four current Hope women's basketball players who missed camp volunteered to participate in a Hope athletics foreign mission's trip.

Many promising prospects demonstrated recruitable qualities throughout the day. These wings and forwards specifically stood out during my time evaluating:

Kassidy turned in an impressive performance at Hope Elite Camp from start to finish. She has the versatility, length, and physicality necessary to excel as a wing or guard. Kassidy was a standout playmaker on both ends of the court during games. Her quick hands stripped the ball away for a steal, and she was active in the passing lanes, securing another steal after a deflection. Kassidy muscled her way inside to grab a physical offensive rebound, then scored the strong putback. She showed confidence as a dual-threat scorer off the dribble and beyond the arc. Kassidy drained a corner three and slashed to the hoop, then scored with an effective stretch finish. She found the bottom of the net consistently from three-point distance during the Shoot-Away drill and made great bounce pass deliveries into the post. Kassidy used effective show fakes and pivots to get the scoring angle she needed in front of the basket.

Meredith has length and skill that translate to the next level. She's a versatile wing-guard prospect and was a breakout performer at Hope Elite Camp. Meredith shot the ball efficiently from the wing, knocking down threes at a high rate off the catch during spot shooting. Meredith stood out amongst the group during games. She used a quick crossover to get by her defender, then dropped in a soft floater off the glass. Meredith caught a pass in the corner, immediately turned the corner to get straight downhill, eluded the final defender with a crossover, then finished at the rim. Meredith buried a step-back jumper from the free-throw line and drilled a wing three off a kickout.

Elle was among the best at finding the bottom of the net during the Shoot-Away drill at Hope Elite Camp. Her systematic setup, follow-through, and high release were efficient from different spots around the arc. Elle continued to make her perimeter presence felt during games. She was ready to fire on the catch and swished a smooth mid-corner three on a kickout. Elle has the physical strength, size, and footwork needed to play inside, while her off-the-ball instincts and sharpshooting make her a weapon from the wing. Elle demonstrated excellent touch and skill during the stretch finishing drill. She's skilled and checks the boxes as a next-level forward.

Lucy showed her outside range by sinking threes during the Shoot-Away drill and really separated herself by playing stout defense against forwards in the post. She physically imposed her will on the boards. Lucy climbed an invisible ladder, jumping way up to high point a rebound on the offensive end, then scored the strong putback in traffic. She held her ground against forwards in the paint, moved laterally very well, and walled up with excellent technique to force misses without fouling. Lucy turned in a solid performance at Hope Elite Camp. She has length, strength, versatility, potential, a high motor, and a team-oriented style that translates to the next level.

Elliana put her three-point accuracy on full display during Hope Elite Camp. She was on fire during the Shoot-Away drill, ripping the nets with pinpoint accuracy from every spot around the arc. Clean, systematic mechanics, balance, and a high, wrist-snapping follow-through. Elliana continued to shoot the ball with confidence from the outside during games, burying a triple from the slot. Her length, mobility, guard skills, experience playing inside or outside, and ability to play multiple roles will make Elliana a very effective player at the next level.

Rhiley is a spring and summer stock riser in her class. She's very effective as an interior defender and post player, but I was able to see her potential as a wing prospect at Hope Elite Camp. Rhiley knocked down threes with rhythm during the Shoot-Away drill and continued to stand out in games. She used her length to protect the basket as a shot blocker and scored a runner with touch high off the glass. Rhiley swished a smooth straightaway three and stayed active on the boards. Her versatility, length, and skill left a lasting impression throughout the day.

Kyra came in as a highly rated forward prospect, and she backed it up at Hope College Elite Camp. Kyra's mobility, athleticism, and skill for her size are unique. Her stretch finishes, and transfers were smooth in the layup drills. She shot the ball confidently from three-point distance, caught passes with good hands in the post, and finished contested layups with soft touch off two feet. Kyra caught an entry pass, protected the ball by keeping it high, then used a nice step-through pivot for the finish. She didn't force the issue and pivoted to throw a strong kickout pass to the perimeter for an assist on a three. Kyra rebounded well and turned in a solid performance from start to finish.
