The guards may have brought the flash, but the frontcourt prospects brought the force at the JSE Showcase. From dominating the glass and protecting the rim to finishing through contact and running the floor, several post players made their presence impossible to ignore.

These prospects did not just take up space in the paint—they controlled it.

Throughout the event, the most impressive frontcourt performers played with toughness, physicality and nonstop energy. They battled for every rebound, challenged shots around the basket and created second-chance opportunities with relentless work on the offensive glass. Whether it was scoring with their back to the basket, finishing off dump-down passes or beating defenders down the floor in transition, the bigs showed they could impact the game in multiple ways.

What separated this group was more than size. Several prospects displayed soft hands, developing footwork, strong court awareness and the ability to make plays away from the basket. Some stepped out and knocked down jumpers, while others handled the ball in transition or delivered smart passes from the high post. That versatility made them difficult to defend and showed why their long-term upside is so exciting.

Defensively, the frontcourt standouts set the tone. They protected the paint, altered shots and made opponents think twice before attacking the rim. Their communication, rebounding and ability to defend without fouling helped change the momentum of games.

The JSE Showcase gave these post players an opportunity to prove they were more than traditional interior players—and they took full advantage of it.

Their strength, effort, skill and potential were all on full display. By the end of the showcase, several frontcourt prospects had clearly raised their stock and placed their names firmly on the radar.

The paint belonged to them, and these rising prospects made sure everyone in the gym knew it.

https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/06/buckets-on-display-elite-scorers-take-over-the-jse-showcase/

JSE Team Camp- Top Standout Performers | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Team Camp- Class of 2027 Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Team Camp- Class of 2028 Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

NSU Team Camp: Top Performers | Prep Girls Hoops

LSU Team Camp: Top Prospects | Prep Girls Hoops

Did you miss my most recent article?
Tap in using the link below and stay updated on the latest evaluations, rankings, and rising prospects.

Follow me on Instagram or X: @CoachLathan

[player_tooltip player_id='1225938' first='MaKaiya' last='Johnson'] brought serious bounce, energy and toughness to the JSE Showcase! The 5-foot-10 forward used her impressive athleticism and high vertical to rise above the crowd, attack the glass and snatch rebounds in traffic. When the ball came off the rim, Johnson went after it with purpose—using her timing, explosiveness and strong motor to create extra possessions for her team.

Johnson's athletic tools allow her to play much bigger than her listed position. She runs the floor, battles inside and gives her team a physical presence on both ends of the court. Her ability to rebound outside of her area stood out, and she consistently made hustle plays that changed possessions.

The Wossman standout also brings valuable versatility as a small forward who can contribute around the basket while continuing to develop her perimeter game. Hudl lists Johnson as a small forward/shooting guard, showing the positional flexibility that makes her an intriguing prospect in Louisiana's 2027 class.

Johnson is already battle-tested after helping Wossman capture its fifth consecutive state championship. She delivered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while also collecting four steals in the championship victory—another example of her ability to impact the game through athleticism, activity and effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='1225938' first='MaKaiya' last='Johnson'] did not just attend the JSE Showcase—she made her presence felt. With her explosive jumping ability, rebounding instincts and nonstop energy, Johnson showed why she is one of the frontcourt prospects whose stock continues to rise. Keep her name on the radar because the bounce is real, the motor is active and her best basketball is still ahead!

[player_tooltip player_id='874366' first='Taylar' last='Wright'] delivered one of the most complete performances of the entire JSE Showcase and made it clear why she is considered one of Louisiana's premier 2027 prospects. The 5-foot-10 Wossman standout embraced the leadership role, controlled the tempo and consistently elevated the play of everyone around her.

Wright's length, athleticism and versatility allow her to make a major impact on both ends of the floor. Defensively, she can guard multiple positions, apply pressure and disrupt opposing offenses with her activity and instincts. Offensively, she operates as a primary facilitator, displaying excellent court vision, strong decision-making and the ability to keep her teammates involved.

She is also a dependable perimeter shooter who forces defenders to respect her range. When opponents close out aggressively, Wright can put the ball on the floor, create separation and generate offense for herself or others. Her ability to score, facilitate and defend makes her one of the most versatile prospects in the class.

What separates [player_tooltip player_id='874366' first='Taylar' last='Wright'] from many talented players is her winning mentality. She competed with confidence, communicated constantly and made the important plays that do not always appear in the box score. Whether it was securing a rebound, making the extra pass, getting a defensive stop or creating a quality possession, Wright repeatedly delivered when her team needed her.

[player_tooltip player_id='874366' first='Taylar' last='Wright'] showed the complete package at the JSE Showcase: leadership, toughness, versatility and production. The state's No. 10 overall prospect and No. 3-ranked player at her position continues to strengthen her case as one of the biggest stock-risers in Louisiana's 2027 class.

Stock Up 📈 [player_tooltip player_id='874366' first='Taylar' last='Wright'] left the showcase as one of the event's biggest winners. The Barbe standout was an absolute force in the paint, playing with nonstop aggression, toughness, and a motor that never slowed down.

Brooks attacked the glass like every rebound belonged to her. She used her strength, positioning, and physical style of play to rip down boards, create second-chance opportunities, and control the interior. On defense, she brought serious versatility, showing the ability to guard multiple positions, battle inside, and make life difficult for anyone trying to score around her.

When the game tightened up, Brooks stepped up even bigger. She came through with clutch buckets in the fourth quarter and finished with a team-high 17 points, helping lead Barbe to the win. Her confidence, physicality, and ability to produce in pressure moments separated her from the competition.

Brooks did not just fill the stat sheet—she changed the energy of the game. Her rebounding, defensive toughness, and late-game scoring made her one of the biggest difference-makers at the camp.

Stock Up 📈 Jalecia Brooks was built for the big moment. She dominated the paint, delivered in the clutch, and showed everyone in the gym that she is a 2027 prospect who needs to stay firmly on the radar!

Raykelle Davis stepped onto the floor at the JSE Team Camp with absolutely no fear! The Tioga standout brought strength, toughness, and a physical inside presence that immediately caught attention. Davis loves playing through contact, and she made it clear that she was not backing down from anyone in the paint.

Her footwork was one of the biggest highlights of her performance. Davis showed the ability to establish strong position, use controlled moves around the basket and finish against physical defense. Once she got the ball inside, she attacked with confidence and forced defenders to match her strength.

Davis also brought serious energy on the glass. She battled for rebounds, pursued loose balls and gave her team extra opportunities with her effort around the basket. Her physicality allows her to play bigger than her size, while her aggressive mentality makes her difficult to keep away from the rim.

The young Tioga prospect has already shown that she can produce offensively, including a reported 24-point performance during the high-school season. She has also earned recognition among Tioga's “Best of the Rest” honorees, adding even more momentum to her growing résumé.

Stock Up 📈 Raykelle Davis made her presence felt at JSE with strength, impressive footwork and a fearless approach to the interior game. She is only a 2029 prospect, but she already plays with the toughness and confidence of an experienced varsity performer. The 6-foot-2 Zachary standout used her elite length, athleticism and natural instincts to dominate around the rim on both ends of the floor. Bell attacked the glass with purpose, rose over defenders for rebounds and consistently turned missed shots into scoring opportunities.

Offensively, Bell showed why she is such a dangerous frontcourt prospect. She finished strong around the basket, created difficult scoring angles with her length and displayed impressive touch near the rim. Her ability to catch, gather and score through traffic made her a constant problem for opposing defenses. Bell also flashed creativity when the ball came off the rim, quickly finding ways to convert tough opportunities into points.

Defensively, she was a game-changing presence. Bell protected the rim, altered shots and forced opponents to think twice before attacking the paint. Her mobility and athleticism allow her to defend inside while also giving her the versatility to step away from the basket and guard multiple positions.

Bell is listed as a 6-foot-2 small forward/power forward in the 2028 class and competes for Zachary and Mississippi All In. She is already recognized as one of Louisiana's top young prospects and recently added a Mississippi State offer to her growing recruitment.

She also brings championship experience as a two-time state champion with Zachary, adding a proven winning background to an already impressive résumé.

Stock Up 📈 [player_tooltip player_id='946175' first='Asia' last='Bell'] looked like a major problem at JSE. She rebounded above the crowd, scored with power and touch, controlled the rim defensively and showed the type of athletic upside that college programs are searching for. Bell is not simply one of Louisiana's top 2028 prospects—she is developing into one of the state's most exciting frontcourt talents, and her ceiling continues to rise!

The guards may have brought the flash, but the frontcourt prospects brought the force at the JSE Showcase. From dominating the glass and protecting the rim to finishing through contact and running the floor, several post players made their presence impossible to ignore.
