MaKaiya used her long frame to make a strong impact on defense as she tipped passes and secured rebounds. She got downhill at will and put constant pressure on the defense while finishing at the rim. She was especially impressive on the offensive glass as she attacked the glass and tracked the ball well off the rim to create extra possessions. MaKaiya came up with a big offensive rebound and putback late in the game that shifted momentum. Her ability to control the boards played a major role in her team’s win.

Mikaiya Johnson caught my attention a couple weeks ago, and I mentioned that her growth would be a big key if Wossman wanted to maintain their standard of greatness. One player cannot win it all and the true mark of a program is development. She is devloping. Johnson led Wossman in scoring last night, and put the state on notice. Wossman is not a three headed Monster. There are four legit play makers that you must plan for. Johnson is a focused player that does all the little things, and she scores the ball. This Wossman team is balanced, and Johnson tipped the scale in their favor in the first big match up of the season.

Johnson is set to be a big part of Wossman on their quest to add another Championship to their resume, and on a team known for their dominance she is ready to step into the spotlight. She is a rim running wing that runs the floor and finishes well around the rim. Her increased ball handling ability and shooting make her a dangerous weapon for the Lady Wildcats. She has the size and skill that coaches covet at the next level, but she also brings a tough mentality and increased athleticism which ensures that her stock is on the rise.
