PGH MI College Tour IV: Look Out High Schoolers

Saginaw Valley State was the final stop along the Prep Girls Hoops Michigan College Tour. Talent fit for every level of college basketball flooded the beautiful gym. The facility was perfect for the occasion. Teams had the opportunity to compete in front of 13 different college programs (D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO), PGH scouts, and Midwest Recruiting Resource. She stood out for KBA 14U at the PGH MI College Tour IV. McKinley is an effective slasher off the dribble, gets to the rim, goes up strong, and forces defenses to put her on the line. She has a good shot, sees the floor, and is an effective facilitator. McKinley made a great first impression and will be a prospect on our radar moving forward.     Natalie has length and advanced skills for her age that put her in the upper tier as a guard-wing prospect. She has excellent footwork, touch around the basket, and is a dangerous outside threat. Natalie put all of those qualities on full display with Mystics 15U at the PGH Michigan College Tour IV. She drained a deep wing three and buried another smooth triple from the slot. Natalie scored a nice catch and finish off two feet. She anticipated a defender closing in and dished out a quick pass inside for an assist. Natalie goes up strong with both hands on the ball to finish in traffic and penetrates gaps with her downhill quickness on drives.     Whitney is going to be a playmaker at the high school level. Her ability to create off the dribble, slash to the hoop, finish, and sink pull-up jumpers stood out during games for [program_tooltip program_id='1831436' first='MBA' last='[program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House']'] 14U at the PGH Michigan College Tour IV. Whitney used a shifty inside-out dribble to create the space she needed, then buried a smooth pull-up three from the top of the key. She drove hard from half-court, got the angle, protected the ball with her shoulder, and went up strong to score an and-one layup through contact. Whitney drained a mid-wing jumper, split a gap for a speedy left-handed bucket, and drove hard again for another layup. She's a very crafty and skilled guard ready to make an impact year one.     Harper is an athletic guard who played lockdown defense for KBA 14U at the PGH Michigan College Tour IV. She moves quickly laterally, guards her yard, and defends effectively without fouling. Harper has sharp instincts in the gap. She used her anticipation to cause deflections and generate steals. Harper used good rip moves to penetrate off the dribble and sank a smooth wing jumper off the catch. She's a two-way difference maker who looks like an immediate impact player at the high school level.     Maizy was an effective court general for MBA 14U [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] at the PGH Michigan College Tour IV, and she gave the team a boost with her three-point shooting. Maizy knocked down a pair of triples and handled the ball well against pressure. She worked hard and made opposing guards uncomfortable with her scrappy defense. Maizy looks ready to make a difference in the backcourt at the high school level.     Laila made quite the first impression at the PGH Michigan College Tour IV. She's going to be an exciting prospect to watch alongside VanDusen this winter. Laila has length, athleticism, quickness, and aggressiveness as a guard that gives her a high ceiling as a prospect. Laila scooped up a loose ball and shifted into high gear for a speedy drive and finish. She pushed the ball up the floor with long strides in the open court. Laila used her quick hands to create a steal, then took it straight to the rim for two points. She attacked hard from the perimeter on a drive, kept her head up, and dished out an assist. The Comets are adding another terrific prospect to their team.
