One of the biggest events for high school basketball players is back and day one did not disappoint. The Arizona Athletic Grounds was electric, college coaches were roaming and what a great atmosphere it was. Below are some of the top stock risers I saw on day one.

Berg was arguably the biggest stock riser of the day for Southern Arizona prospects. Playing in the 9:15am game anywhere is tough. Not for Berg. She was in peak, midseason form. Playing with high energy, crashing the boards and knocking down clutch threes (Including the three to seal the game with 10 seconds left) Defensively she was forcing turnovers, ripping the ball away from opposing guards and taking the ball the other way for the score. This was a version of Berg we have not seen before. She has improved tremendously in all areas of her game. The floor general is ready to lead the Thunderbolts and she opened a lot of eyes today.

Unpopular opinion: Medina might just be the top overall guard in the Southern Arizona 2027 class. She has elite vision, can change her pace/direction at a high level and just makes plays. Plays the game with a strong motor. Makes the hustle plays and takes charges. Defensively is one of the best in the state. Has shown the ability to guard some of the top "ranked" guards effectively. Strong leader and impacts winning at a high level.

Mitchell might have just put the state on notice and could be out to prove she might be the top 2030 guard in AZ. She finished day one of Section 7 averaging 24.5 points per game. This included a 34 point performance against Sunrise Mountain. Mitchell has lead the Pride to back to back 20+ point wins. An extremely physical defender who I saw frustrate and break down her opponents. Gets downhill and to the basket with ease. Hit the three ball very well but did her damage taking it to the rim. The Pride are very young and very good.

Del Rio has earned the trust of her coach and teammates and now entering her sophomore season is starting to get a bigger role with the Lancers. Del Rio plays hard. She moves effectively around the floor creating an opportunity for herself or her teammates. Good on ball defender and plays great in transition. great awareness. She came up big for the Lancers knocking down a three to regain the lead with 3 minutes left which they held onto till the last 20 seconds of the game. Then Kayla struck again knocking down another three to seal the win. The incoming sophomore coming up clutch to help the Lancers advance in their Section 7 Bracket.

Elam was impressive on the day. Very skilled and disciplined shot blocker. Rebounded exceptionally well and was able to score at will. Displayed exceptional footwork and "just did all the little things right" and was able to stretch the floor with a high percentage three ball she was knocking down today. Elam picked up college interest immediately following her first game and I expect more to come before the weekend is over.

One of the top passers of day one. Saucedo has elite vision and sees things your everyday guard doesn't see. She also makes passes others don't see which will lead to scores more times than not. I didn't see another point guard rack up the assists she did. She can drive the lane and finished well through contact. Came up with a couple big threes. Forced quite a bit of turnovers on the defensive end. Saucedo was a player who attracted coaches attention and kicked off some interest. Things are starting to get rolling for Jaidyn.
