Under-the-Radar Standouts Through May

In terms of grassroots basketball, we will have a short lull until the next few tournaments kick off in the middle of the month. In the meantime, we will look at some players who have caught my attention through May as we get into the stretch run of the 2026 grassroots season. Today, we will look at a few names that don't include any of the more notable names around the state and highlight a few players for regional programs to see heading into June and July.    The Whitefish Bay native has become a well-rounded guard who can play on or off the ball and make winning plays. Balthasar makes the right choices with the ball and doesn't waste time on the ball. She has also become accustomed to playing off the ball, reading the game on both ends of the floor, and has become a consistent perimeter shooter. She is a player with all the intangibles and makes winning plays whenever she's on the floor.     The Grafton native has brought some physicality to her position on both ends of the floor. Morgan has always been an excellent perimeter shooter who can spot up and knock down shots from beyond the arc. However, her willingness to dig in, box out, and help her team clear their defensive lines by rebounding. She has shown she can help her team win on the margins in multiple fashions and can bring a positive presence to a program at the next level.     The Kaukaua wing is an athletic kid with the tools to be a productive and versatile defender. However, it feels like she's turned a corner offensively and is comfortable with the ball in her hands and creating her shot off the dribble. Lensmire has the length to be a matchup problem for most defenses, and if she can find her groove on the offensive end, she becomes a different player than she has been in the past.     The Northwest Wisconsin native is a player who excels at multiple sports at the high school level and competes at a high level. Williams is a hard-nosed two-way player who can impact the game on both ends of the floor. She is a skilled defender who can make plays on the ball defensively and help jumpstart her team's offense. I also like how well she can exploit defenses in transition with her athleticism. Kids who play hard as Williams will thrive in numerous places.
