Windmill City Weekend Shootout 2026: More Players to Watch

As the Windmill City Weekend Shootout comes to a close, there are even more players who elevated their stock. Hosted by Batavia High School, the shootout is the Midwest's biggest NFHS-approved scholastic event and featured 116 of the top women's varsity programs across Illinois. Let's take a look at some of the players who stood out.    [player_tooltip player_id='879981' first='Rianna' last='Foster'] was one of the most consistent and productive performers at the Windmill City Shootout, stuffing the stat sheet with 18 PPG, 13 RPG, and 3 BPG. In addition to averaging a double-double over the weekend, she rarely turned the ball over, averaging only 1.5 turnovers per game. The 6'0 combo guard displayed her versatility, jumping in front of smaller players for rebounds and running the length of the court on fast breaks. She showed a fearless mentality by attacking defenders head-on when driving to the rim. Her scoring, toughness, and ability to take care of the basketball make her both a reliable and exciting player to watch.     [player_tooltip player_id='1796676' first='Addison' last='Brown'] played a key role in helping McAuley go 4-0 in the tournament, earning victories over Barrington, Chicago Perspective, Willowbrook, and Hampshire. Brown's size and relentless motor stood out. She frequently put her hands up for a pass in the paint and scored, giving her teammates automatic easy assists close to the rim. She also took advantage of put-back opportunities, showcasing her offensive rebounding and ability to secure second chance points. Brown displayed a tenaciousness on the court that was contagious to her teammates. With three more years of high school to continue developing, Brown has a chance to be a top prospect in Illinois girls basketball.     Borzych appears to be evolving from a complementary player on a loaded roster into a legitimate scoring guard. Throughout the weekend, Borszych's performance was highlighted by her sharp three point shooting. A tad undersized at 5'9, Borszych was at her best when she focused on getting to her spots on the floor and posting up from beyond the arc. She also demonstrated improved defensive versatility, defending multiple positions and making plays away from the ball. Borsyzch is worth investing in as a three point specialist on a future team.     [player_tooltip player_id='1243323' first='Sophia' last='Calhoun'] was an outstanding player to watch throughout the weekend. She showed a mature and well-rounded skill-set for her age – from driving to the hoop and popping passes to players beyond the arc, to her comfort scoring in the paint, to a mechanically sound jump-shot. At one point, Calhoun ripped the ball out of another, older top prospect's hands, essentially saying, “I'm here now.” A scrappy, determined competitor, Calhoun exuded toughness and leadership, displaying the type of unselfish approach and team-first mentality that elevates those around her. A Power Forward with "court general" vision and potential, there's almost nothing on the basketball court that Calhoun can't do. The fact that she has 3 more years of high school ball left should be terrifying to her competitors - she's already that good.     [player_tooltip player_id='876101' first='Ryleigh' last='Alexander'] impressed throughout the weekend – most notably shining in transition. Whether taking the ball to the hoop or passing to a teammate, Alexander consistently made the right basketball play. She also displayed a deadly mid-range jump shot from just beyond or just inside the free throw line. When watching Alexander, I found myself humming the words to “Move” by Ludacris – her fluidity and quickness with the basketball helped her weave her way through her opponents and impose her will in the lane. There is no doubt that Alexander is a top player to watch.
