2028 Rankings: Prospects Who Continue to Carry the Mantle

With the new rankings posted for arguably the strongest class in the State of Florida, the 2028 rankings have provided new names, upward movement, and players at the top of the class. There have been many players who have been consistent in the class since day one. In this article, we recognize some of those players who continue to make the 2028 so strong. Two state championships and several productive travel seasons later, she continues to show why she is among Florida's top forwards in her class. Deal is a versatile scorer who can attack the rim, knock down the mid-range jumper, and shoot the long ball from beyond the arc. She combines strength with footwork around the basket, rebounds well on both ends, and can push the ball in transition after securing the defensive board. Add in her willingness to run the floor, pass the ball, and play multiple positions on the floor, and it's easy to see why she remains one of the top players in the 2028 class. A few years ago, at the Freshman Expo, Deal dominated the event from the perimeter, in transition, and in the paint. She is so smooth in transition that it appears as if she is gliding. Tatum impacts both ends of the floor as well as in the transition game. Offensively, she can get to the rim and score with creativity, and she also gets teammates involved due to explosiveness, quickness, selflessness, and court vision. Year after year, Tatum has remained one of the most dependable guards in the 2028 class. Her combination of speed, quickness, and power was unmatched by many. Griffin was versatile on offense, shooting from the arc, shooting in the midrange, attacking the rim, and scoring off the rebound. She ran the floor well and scored in transition, using her speed up the court. Griffin was a standout this past high school season, helping to lead her team to the state Finals. The sophomore showcased her game and solidified herself as one of the top forwards in the 2028 class. Griffin can handle the ball, post up on the block, and bring the power. She has the ability to play 3 - 4 positions on the floor. Griffin has consistently answered the bell, and this live period should be more of the same.     [player_tooltip player_id='646515' first='Zoey' last='Brown'] showed versatility at the FABC, playing the point guard and shooting guard positions seamlessly. What also stood out was her physicality. Brown has been on the scene and entered high school, making a state championship impact. Her basketball IQ and competitive nature have always been mature for a young player. Her basketball ability has always been admired by college coaches as well. She can attack the rim, shoot the midrange, and shoot from behind the arc. She is also a playmaker who sees the court as good as anyone and makes pinpoint passes to her teammates. Last year at the FABC showcase, a college coach called her one of the most talented guards in the building. Mallory has always been impressive just from her physical presence alone. Combined with her size, speed, and off-the-chart potential, she has become one of the most intriguing big guards in the 2028 class. Mallory can drive to the rim and score against physicalilty and during the June summer period, Mallory showcased her developing perimeter game. At the Wildcat Shootout, Mallory was close to unstoppable and impacted all three phases of the game. Her ability to rebound and go, and her sneaky shot blocking ability, are two skills that really stood out. She garnered a lot of interest in June, and the July live period could really be special for the rising 2028 prospect.       [player_tooltip player_id='968076' first='Alysya' last='Smith'] balled out at the FABC showcase, showing the ability to play at the one and the two guard positions. Smith's shooting was really impressive. She shot the three-ball in the June period as she did in the state Finals. Smith has shown the ability to rise up in big moments. She can handle the ball, has good speed on offense and defense, and is a standout in the transition game. What stood out most in Gainesville at the FABC was her ability to shoot from the perimeter. Smith has been a staple in the 2028 class. The versatile guard is looking to have a big July Live period.
