Northwood Team Camp: Backcourt Performers Pt 1

The final day of Northwood Team Camp featured plenty of talented guards who helped drive their teams with smart decision-making, timely scoring, and relentless effort. Whether they were creating offense off the dribble, knocking down perimeter shots, setting up teammates, or making an impact on the defensive end, these backcourt players consistently found ways to influence the game. The following guards turned in strong performances on Sunday and played key roles in helping their teams compete throughout the day's action.    Stella, a point guard for Salem, put together an outstanding performance on Sunday at Northwood Team Camp, showcasing her ability to run an offense and make plays in a variety of ways. She handled the ball with confidence, using her tight handle to navigate pressure while consistently making the right reads for her teammates. Stella displayed excellent court vision, creating quality scoring opportunities with several well-timed passes, and she also contributed offensively by knocking down a mid-range jumper and finishing a drive with a smooth Euro step. She capped off the first half in memorable fashion by drilling a half-court buzzer-beater, providing one of the day's biggest highlights. Her poise, court vision, and ability to balance scoring with playmaking made for a strong all-around performance on Sunday.     Kaiya, a point guard for Midland, turned in a strong performance on Sunday at Northwood Team Camp with her poise, leadership, and ability to control the game. She consistently made smart decisions with the basketball, showing outstanding court vision and delivering accurate passes that created quality scoring opportunities for her teammates. Throughout the day, she was constantly communicating and directing traffic, serving as an extension of the coaching staff on the floor. Kaiya also made defenses pay from the perimeter, knocking down multiple three-pointers, including a smooth step-back from the top of the key. Her impressive play earned her a campus visit with Northwood following the camp, where she also picked up an offer.     Madisyn, a point guard for Powers Catholic, will be a strong addition this season now that she is back in Michigan, and she showed exactly why with a solid performance at Northwood Team Camp. She plays with a shifty handle and uses a strong crossover to consistently get by defenders and create advantages off the dribble. Madisyn knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc and also showed her touch in the lane with a soft floater over defenders. She does a great job of drawing multiple defenders when attacking downhill and then finding the open teammate with smart, timely passes. On the defensive end, she added value as well, turning a steal into a coast-to-coast finish in transition.       Jozelynn, a guard for Freeland, has been playing at a very high level this spring and summer, and she continued that strong play at Northwood Team Camp. She consistently put pressure on the defense by attacking downhill and finishing strong at the rim, showing both confidence and physicality around the basket. Defensively, she was a disruptive presence, using her length to rack up deflections and generate steals that led to transition opportunities. Several times, she turned defense into offense by going coast-to-coast and converting in the open floor. Her aggressiveness, defensive impact, and ability to score in transition made her a steady difference-maker throughout the day.       Madison, a point guard for Fenton, played with poise and control at Northwood Team Camp, running her team with confidence and steady decision-making. She does a strong job of creating for others, consistently setting up teammates with well-timed passes and keeping the offense organized. Madison also showed she can break down defenders off the dribble, using a quick crossover to create space and get into scoring positions. Her vision and feel for the game stood out as she balanced scoring opportunities with finding the open player, making her a reliable presence in the backcourt throughout the day.
