Recruiting Round Up: Georgia

With only a few days before the last live period events start for girls and several players from the Peach State have already been rewarded with scholarship offers as a result of their play in the previous sessions. With kids getting ready to return to school, the travel ball season is near it's end and several players in Georgia who haven't even started the ninth grade have multiple offers from Division One schools. One of the state's best kept secrets is finally getting the due that she deserves after receiving multiple offers. Finally, [player_tooltip player_id='991134' first='Carib' last='Morris'] continues to stack offers with her outstanding play on Nike's EYBL circuit scoring the basketball for [program_tooltip program_id='1237402' first='HER' last='Elite'].    Carib is one of the most sought after players in the country, no matter the class or state. She currently holds 32 offers (almost all from Power Four schools) as she prepares to enter her sophomore year of high school. In the last week Morris added Texas, Notre Dame, and Iowa to the list after Rutgers and Tennessee offered earlier in the Summer. The last session at EYBL Morris finished averaging almost 20 point per game (19 ppg) and five made three point shots per game. None of this is surprising as Morris had one of the best freshman seasons in girls basketball history in Georgia.   The highly sought after '29 prospect's offer sheets come from schools and conferences all over the country. The breakdown is below:   Conference/Number of Offers:   Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)- 9   Southeastern Conference (SEC)- 10   Big Ten- 6   Big 12- 6   American Athletic Conference (AAC)- 2     Wynn is another player from Georgia who should be ranked in the top 100 nationally when her class rankings are released. I personally would have her in the top 10 range for her class and she will be a very strong contender for the number one spot in the state with several other very talented players. I have seen her in the Milton Summer league and the GBCA Live period over the last couple of months and she is as refined and skilled a freshman I have seen in a very long time. The work she puts in is apparent as she went around, through, and shot over defenders scoring the ball with ease on each occasion. Kimora's size and athleticism are also elite and the combination of physical gifts and skill have college coaches calling early. She had twelve Power Four offers heading into the last live period and added two big ones after with UNC and Louisville extending scholarship offers. She has been one of, if not, the leading scorer playing up on 17U Kentucky Premier team the entire Spring and Summer. She just turned fourteen this Spring!     Taryn is a player I saw last season with Hebron against the eventual state champion Murray County Indians. It took about 5 minutes before I pulled MaxPreps on my phone to see who #24 was. She is a very impressive player physically at over six foot tall with outstanding leaping ability and quickness. While her offensive game is still developing, the contributions Taryn brings cannot be understated. She is a legit rim protector who routinely swats balls out of bounds and works hard on the glass on both ends. She is a confident and capable scorer around the rim who does not need plays run for her to score. I knew in the Fall that she had the potential to be a very good division one player in college. Coaches agree and she has earned offers from Penn, Furman, Jackson State, and the latest coming from in state West Georgia.     Avila is another '30 from Georgia who has already received a lot of praise from evaluators and interest from college coaches. Avila, who will enter Sandy Creek high school as a freshman in less than a month, has already received offers from the home state Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets as well as Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida, Miami, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, and the most recent coming from Providence. Avila has been more than impressive when I watched her play at Milton's Summer League as well as the GBCA Live Period event at Lakepoint. She plays with the composure and patience of a much older and more experienced player. She meets the grandma test as well. If someone's grandmother walked into the gym who never watched basketball before, they would be able to tell you pretty quick that Jordyn is likely the best player in the there. She has the ability and basketball IQ to play both positions in the backcourt at a high level in college. She has had a dominant Spring and Summer playing up with 15U on the EYBL circuit with AEBL and I expect that to continue the last live period. She visited the home state Georgia Bulldogs this past weekend.     The first chance I got to see Niyah play was last high school season in Jacksonville at the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic where her team played a loaded schedule versus the best teams from Florida. She was very impressive blocking shots, snatching rebounds out of the air, and consistently getting baskets around the rim without plays being run for her. Branch plays with a high motor and with her physical gifts she has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Georgia the last few months. Dan Olsen was also there at the beginning of the last year's season in Florida and I know he came away impressed as well. She has played with Kentucky Premier during the travel ball season and the college coaches have seen what Dan and I saw apparently as she added to her offer list significantly. Heading into the Summer Branch had offers from Ole Miss, Memphis, Georgia and Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and TCU. She has added offers from Oklahoma, Central Florida, Mississippi State, Miami, and most recently Kellie Harper and her staff at Missouri.     Before making a big move from [program_tooltip program_id='1237402' first='HER' last='Elite'] to Team Elite Hubbard in the Spring, London had earned multiple division one offers with her play on the EYBL circuit as well as her outstanding play with Newton her first three years of high school. Since she made the switch London has received offers from Georgia Southern, South Florida, Memphis, Iona, and Kennesaw State. Going back even further Smith had offers from Jackson State, South Alabama, Furman, VCU, and Radford amongst others. She is the composer of the orchestra no matter what team she plays on. Smith is an elite ball handler but does not over dribble. London gets the ball where it needs to go with accuracy and wastes little time making life on opposing defenders difficult. She is excellent initiating and facilitating the offense while also being a constant threat to score from all three levels. Will she be able to get Newton back to the state championship game and go out as a winner is one of the biggest questions in the state in prep girls hoops in Georgia next season.
