Regional Stars Shine at Run 4 Roses

There was no shortage of talent from states around the country at Run 4 Roses. Indiana, Georgia, and Kentucky featured several prospects who consistently stood out with their production, athleticism, and ability to impact winning against high-level competition. Here are some of the top performers from those three states who caught my attention during the first July live period in Louisville:    Quinn was one of the more intriguing young prospects I watched in Louisville, especially after realizing her age and that she is playing up two classes on the GUAA circuit. She has a long frame and uses her length well around the basket by showing the ability to finish creatively in traffic and score over defenders. She also displayed a high release on her jumper and flashed a nice mid-range fadeaway that added another layer to her offensive game. With her combination of size, versatility, and skill, Quinn has significant long-term upside and is a prospect worth tracking closely as she continues to develop.     Jayda showed a polished offensive game and consistently made smart decisions with the ball in her hands. She displayed good court vision, handled the ball with confidence, and created opportunities for both herself and her teammates. Her shooting ability stood out as she knocked down a three-pointer with confidence, and even got a favorable shooter's bounce on another attempt. She also flashed her creativity around the basket with a smooth reverse layup. Jayda's combination of shot-making, ball-handling, and feel for the game makes her a tough matchup in the backcourt.     Makayla played with great pace and consistently kept defenses on their heels. Her quickness allowed her to push the tempo in transition, and she showed a quick release on her jumper that made it difficult for defenders to recover. She also displayed impressive court vision with a length-of-the-floor pass that led to an easy transition opportunity and repeatedly caught opponents sleeping by attacking before the defense was set. Defensively, she showcased her athleticism with a chase-down block that highlighted her effort and speed. After a strong weekend in Louisville, it was no surprise to see her earn a Division II offer from LeMoyne-Owen.     Katie showcased the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. She has a strong, well-built frame that allows her to play through contact and contribute on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she scored on a well-timed backdoor cut, stayed active on the offensive glass to earn a trip to the free throw line, and added a putback basket by crashing the boards. She also demonstrated the ability to bring the ball up the floor which highlighted her versatility and comfort handling the ball in transition. Her combination of strength, toughness, and all-around skill set makes her a valuable piece who consistently finds ways to contribute.     Ashley has a physical frame that stands out, but what makes her intriguing is how well she moves despite that strength and build. She showed the ability to change direction quickly, use her shiftiness to create advantages, and keep defenders off balance with her movement. Her combination of physicality, quickness, and ability to move fluidly gives her an intriguing foundation as she continues to develop her game.
