Six Oakland Team Camp Shoutouts

On Sunday, I headed over to Rochester for Oakland University Team Camp. I was able to provide live coverage during the event and evaluate prospects from teams throughout the state. Something I particularly enjoyed about the experience was how each team had an opportunity to compete in the Golden Grizzlies' main gym. The coaching staff was there watching the teams, and college scouts were also on site to provide live coverage. She buried an open three up top and fired another three from the wing that found the bottom of the net. Jordan applied heavy pressure on opposing guards to create steals and took the ball right to the basket for layups. She was effective at penetrating off the dribble and kicking to open teammates for assists. Jordan is going to be a very difficult member of the West Catholic backcourt to stop this winter.     Nichole has battled back from injury, and it was great to see her back on the court for Detroit Edison at Oakland Team Camp. Nichole anchored the middle of the defense. She rotated well from the help side to block layups, talked, and worked hard to secure rebounds. Nichole switched hands comfortably as a face-up driver and finished with a nice touch around the basket.     Claire was a prospect who quickly captured my attention at Oakland Team Camp. She used a quick rip to blow by a defender on a left-handed drive, transferred to her right, and dropped in the floater over the help. Claire snatched a defensive rebound, pushed the ball 94 feet, changed hands, and converted the tough-angled layup in top gear from the side of the basket. She hit a cutter in stride with a perfect entry pass for the assist, jumped into the passing lane for a steal, then shifted into high gear to score a fast break layup. Claire has a confident shot from beyond the arc and drained a smooth corner three. She's shifty, quick, skilled, and active on both ends of the floor. Claire was the newcomer of the day and looks like another talented guard ready to make an impact in the Rockford backcourt.     Kaiah was in the groove for Macomb Dakota at Oakland Team Camp. She created space with quick, shifty crossovers and pocket dribbles to score drive-by layups, then turned up the heat on defense with her aggressive ball pressure. Kaiah ripped the ball away for a steal in the backcourt, then took it right to the basket for two points. Kaiah shot the ball confidently in the mid-range and beyond the arc. She drained a smooth triple from the wing and a pull-up off the bounce.     Josie performed at a high level for Heritage during BCAM Reaching Higher and kept the momentum rolling at Oakland Team Camp. She has confirmed without a doubt that she is a high-level guard prospect. Her size, athleticism, muscular frame, and fundamental skills translate directly to the college game. Josie used a shifty pocket dribble with a between-the-legs crossover combo to get by an athletic defender on the perimeter, accelerated, and finished through contact at the rim for a strong and-one bucket. She motored up the court with pace using both hands in transition and dropped in a soft floater in the lane. Josie knows where the ball needs to go and can deliver on-target passes with either hand, effectively using a variety of deliveries. She used her length to deflect passes and facilitated the ball well as the court general. Josie made quick transfers to score inside and shot the ball confidently from beyond the arc.     Quinn made an impact on both ends of the floor for Tawas at Oakland Team Camp. She has length and skill that give her the ability to contribute inside or on the perimeter. Quinn showed her outside range by sinking a smooth wing three and attacked hard downhill off the dribble to get to the rim. She maintained excellent positioning on the defensive end and walled up to force misses in the paint without fouling.
