The evaluation and rankings process was expedited this spring and summer due to the volume of Prep Girls Hoops tournaments in Michigan and mass participation by clubs and teams on our Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. The Prep Girls Hoops College Tour series and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament gave us five chances to see prospects compete locally right here in Michigan. Nearly every club with college prospects in Michigan competed in front of our scouts at one Prep Girls Hoops tournament, and many clubs attended more than one. This reality created the perfect environment for us to evaluate prospects from across the state against various levels of competition.

After actively evaluating prospects during the first travel session, we now have 235 players ranked. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments over the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Based on data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes, there could be approximately 410 or more prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't do travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, there may be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class. However, this 2028 class is clearly going to be an outlier. The number of prospects rated as D1/D2+ and D2/D3+/NAIA+/JUCO+ is greater than the typical average, with the biggest increase happening with 20+ prospects rated D1/D2+ and 55+ prospects rated as D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+. The outcome of this surplus of talent/depth will hopefully mean more opportunities for these high school prospects to play impactful minutes at the best college level for them in Michigan, across the Midwest, and wherever they decide to go.

If you'd like to learn more about the rankings and evaluation process, please utilize the thorough articles below.

How We Rank

Michigan Rankings All-Access

UPCOMING PGH EVENTS (Use "EvanBell10" code for discount)

The Freshman Showcase (2030s), August 22nd

Registration Link

The Expo (2027-2029s), September 26th

Registration Link

Makenna might be one of the best prospects most college coaches aren't going to have on their radar yet. She left a lasting impression at the Big North Shootout the past two years and checks the boxes of a next-level guard-wing prospect. She's aggressive, has another gear off the dribble, blocks shots, rebounds, finishes strong through contact in the paint, uses her length to disrupt guards on the perimeter, pushes the tempo in transition, and can shoot the three. Makenna is athletic, versatile, and a major stock riser.

Lily put up Top Performer performances for Michigan Goonies 16U E40 consistently on the PGH Circuit. She's athletic, strong, and fundamentally sound. Lily attacks with a burst to beat defenders off the dribble and finishes around the basket. She's accurate as a pull-up shooter in the mid-range and knocks down shots from beyond the arc. Lily is effective as a facilitator, rebounds, and makes an impact on the defensive end. She's definitely a prospect for coaches to keep on their radar.

Myla was solid for MBA UAA 16U at the PGH Circuit, and she caught the attention of multiple PGH scouts from bordering states. Her decision-making, ability to make good reads, poised ball-handling, facilitating, rebounding, and defensive effort were separators on the court. Making the right play and being capable of contributing in whatever role the team needs are very appealing qualities in a prospect. Myla will bring that to the next level.

Josie started the spring with an impressive performance at the Northwood PGH Michigan College Tour. Amongst many of Michigan's best prospects, she separated herself again at BCAM Reaching Higher, then added an exclamation point against great competition at Oakland Team Camp. She's one of the most versatile guards in this class. Josie checks all the boxes of a high-level backcourt prospect: length, athleticism, three-point accuracy, skilled ball-handling, court vision, strong passing, ability to penetrate off the dribble, productive rebounding, active defense, and good touch around the basket. Josie picked up D1 offers from Lipscomb, Toledo, Oakland, Central Michigan, and a D2 offer from Grand Valley State.

Emma has size, athleticism, deadly three-point accuracy, and offensive firepower that immediately grabs your attention as soon as she steps onto the court. Emma was consistently a Top Performer for [program_tooltip program_id='1249476' first='Lakeside' last='Basketball Academy'] while playing up in the 17U division on the PGH Circuit. Emma can slash past defenders to score layups and bury threes at a high clip. She's physical and effective at finishing through contact. Emma converts free throws efficiently from the charity stripe and has a very high ceiling. She recently picked up her first D2 offer from Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Jane started the PGH Circuit with a huge performance at Northwood, and she continued to be a Top Performer on the court all spring for Mystics 16U Josh. She received an All-Tournament First Team selection at the SVSU PGH Michigan College Tour and separated herself at BCAM Reaching Higher. Jane has length, athleticism, three-level scoring abilities, strength around the basket, get-by quickness, and aggressiveness that translates to the next level. She competes hard consistently and with a high motor on both ends of the floor. Jane has the potential to keep climbing the list, and she definitely belongs with the other long/athletic guard-wing prospects with a high ceiling in this class.

Brooklyn was a Top Performer on the PGH Circuit for MBA UA Rise 16U and delivered another impressive performance at the MBA Mother's Day Classic. Her athletic frame, crafty ball-handling, floater game, finishing touch in traffic, quickness to accelerate through gaps off the dribble, and silky smooth three-point shooting were separators this spring. She picked up her first D2 offer from Roosevelt at the end of April.
