Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Emma was one of the biggest stock risers at the PGH MI College Tour II, and she put on a show for Lakeside Basketball Academy 16U. Emma has length, versatility as a ball-handler/slasher, and lights-out accuracy from beyond the arc that projects to a high level of college basketball. She moved her feet and used textbook wall-up technique on a baseline drive to force a miss, then showed her aggressive shot-blocking instincts by swatting multiple shots away in the paint. Emma pushed the ball up the floor with both hands after securing a defensive rebound, created a driving lane with a shifty double-crossover, and forced the help to put her on the free-throw line. She crashed the glass to secure offensive rebounds and was on fire from three: wing three off the catch, step-back corner three, deep wing three, crossover off-platform contested three in the slot–just a sample. Emma split the gap for a drive by bucket and made a great kickout to her sister for an assist on another triple. The splash sisters were at it again, and Emma was a top performer.

Emma is money from three-point range, and she has the quickness off the dribble to penetrate gaps for easy buckets. Her length, athleticism, and playmaking on the court immediately stand out as a guard prospect. She’s been a top performer before, and I won’t be surprised to see her putting on a show with Lakeside Basketball Academy 17U again at the PGH MI College Tour.

Emma, a sophomore guard for Belding, brings size, athleticism, and versatility to the backcourt. With her length and quick release, she doesn’t require much separation to rise up and knock down a shot, making her a constant scoring threat. On any given night, she can impact every column of the box score, and Belding will likely need one of those all-around performances to challenge Portland. Defensively, she uses her reach to contest shots and disrupt passing lanes, while also showing strong instincts as a facilitator and a relentless approach on the glass for a guard.

Emma burst onto the scene as a freshman, earning First Team All-Conference honors and establishing herself as one of the most complete young players in the OK Silver. With her combination of size, skill, and feel for the game, she can impact a lineup in multiple ways. She’s a reliable threat from the perimeter, stretching defenses with her confident outside shooting, but she’s just as effective using her frame to score around the rim. Emma sees the floor well for her age, delivering sharp passes and making smart reads that keep the offense flowing. Her ability to finish through contact and create off the dribble gives Belding a versatile scoring option. With a year of experience under her belt, she’s primed for an even bigger sophomore season.

Emma was on fire in her first game for Lakeside 16U at our PGH Michigan State Tournament. She drained at least four three-pointers, including a filthy step-back wing triple off the bounce. Emma hesitated and then turned on the burners to get by defenders with her dribble. She has the right combination of length, pinpoint perimeter accuracy, and athleticism to have a bright future of basketball after high school.

Emma had a fantastic showing on Saturday at The Smoke, serving as the ultimate playmaker for Lakeside Basketball Academy. She was a defensive standout, reading the floor well and jumping into passing lanes to grab multiple steals, along with a huge perimeter block where she used her length to shut down a shot. Offensively, Emma was just as impressive—knocking down several threes, hitting a smooth floater, and crashing the glass for offensive rebounds and putbacks. Her all-around performance was a major spark for her team throughout the day.
