Winners from July EYBL

Kindred's EYBL run started with a good but not great Phoenix session back in April. Since then she has flourished, including an incredible back to back Las Vegas and Chicago showing. In Vegas, she had a 28 point double double performance in one win. Then was a threat all weekend in Chicago. Leading Legynds 16U to a 10-2 mark over the two events.   Part of her impressive play In Vegas, was that she shot it better from three. Shooting has been part of her game that could be considered an area of improvement. Kindred followed that up with a 50% mark in Chicago, including a perfect 3 of 3 in the 16U Gold title game.   If July is any indication, she's put in the time and made the jump as a shooter. While also still excelling as a tough driver, an outstanding defender and a vocal leader for teams that always win a lot of games. With her long arms and timing she nearly averaged 2 blocks a game in Chicago.   What's not to like about one of the best players in Oklahoma? Especially as she's becoming a complete offensive threat.     Stokes didn't have the loudest individual numbers this past week in Chicago, but she still played key minutes for a Phenom team that finished runner ups in the 17U platinum bracket. She was individually more impressive two weeks ago in Vegas, with a couple games of double digit scoring. And her usual stat sheet stuffing ways.   It's impressive that a gangly girl from Locust Grove was able to play for a national championship in front of coaches from all over Oklahoma. It'a testament to the work Stokes has put in, to go from being that gangly girl. To now being a powerful and stronger two-way wing.     After a spring of outstanding play at the 15U level, the incoming freshman was ready for a new challenge. In this case it was 16U play for a team that competed with the best teams in the country. Over the month of July, Abdullah never looked out of place. Playing with the same burst and craftiness that made her a hit playing up one age group. Her production wasn't quite as loud given the step up in competition. But she picked her spots, hit big jumpers and often made incredible finishes at the rim for her height and age. The future is very bright for the incoming Westmoore Jaguar, who is in strong consideration as the best 2030 in Oklahoma.     Prestridge is another stellar do it all, athletic Class of 2028 Oklahoman who appears to be improving as a shooter. Caught her final game in Vegas a few weeks ago where she hit multiple threes with confidence. She then shot it at a 36.4% clip in Chicago. Which given that the speed of the game is often quicker, making it harder to shoot at the national level, it's an impressive sign of improvement. Prestridge is already a wrecking ball off the bounce. If opponents have to respect her jumper even more, look out Oklahoma.     Johnson's June was cut short by an injury, that appears it might have lingered into July. As some of her usual quickness and burst weren't quite there this weekend. However she was still effective, even helping Drive Nation qualify for the knockout round. A traditional pass first point guard, she routinely got downhill, feet into the paint and made the right passes to open teammates. Is a difference maker in transition and defense, with steals and pitch aheads. Gritted her way to some tough scores around the rim. Was leaving her jumper short a bit this weekend, a potential area of improvement. Which also should be helped by a return to full health.
