2027 Guards Make an Impact at Alma Elite Camp

The 2027 class had another strong showing at the Alma Elite Camp on Sunday afternoon, with several guards making an impact throughout the event. Players worked through a variety of skill stations and drills before finishing the afternoon with competitive 5-on-5 action. The guard group showcased a mix of ball-handling, scoring, playmaking, and defensive ability, with several players finding ways to contribute in multiple areas of the game. Here are a few of the 2027 guards who caught my attention throughout the camp.    McKynley, a 2027 guard, put together an impressive showing at the Alma Elite Camp. She stood out during the drill work, showing her skill as a shooter while also displaying strong ball-handling and finishing ability. That versatility carried over into the 5-on-5 action, where she consistently pushed the tempo with her head up and made excellent decisions with the ball. McKynley was especially effective as a passer in transition and knocked down multiple shots from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, she used her speed to pressure the ball and create turnovers, coming away with several steals. Her ability to impact the game as a scorer, playmaker, and defender made for a strong all-around performance.     Brooke looked sharp throughout the Alma Elite Camp, starting with an impressive showing during the drill work. She knocked down shots consistently during the shooting portion and displayed tight, controlled handles at the ball-handling station. Her strong play continued into the 5-on-5 action, where she was a tough defender who used her hands well and repeatedly jumped passing lanes to create turnovers. Brooke also ran the floor hard in transition, turning her effort into scoring opportunities. Her combination of shooting, ball skills, and defensive activity made for a strong showing at the camp.     Jessie, a 2027 Alma commit, put together a strong showing at the Alma Elite Camp. She got off to a good start during the drill work, knocking down shots while displaying strong ball-handling and finishing ability. Her all-around game carried over into the 5-on-5 action, where she made several quality passes and knocked down a shot from beyond the arc. Jessie also contributed on the glass and played solid defense throughout the afternoon. Her ability to impact the game in multiple areas made for a well-rounded performance.     This was my first opportunity to see Maddie play live, and she definitely made an impression at the Alma Elite Camp. During the 5-on-5 action, she showed how much of an impact she can make defensively, racking up several blocks, including an impressive rejection on the perimeter. Maddie used her length to disrupt passing lanes and create deflections, while also doing a nice job on the glass. Offensively, she made several smart cuts and finished those opportunities around the basket. Her defensive versatility, length, and ability to make plays without the ball gave me a strong first look at what she could bring to the next level.     Mack, a point guard, showcased her ball skills throughout the Alma Elite Camp. She was particularly impressive during the drill work, where she displayed tight handles and strong control of the ball. That skill translated into the 5-on-5 action, where Mack used her quickness and change of direction to navigate through defenders and create opportunities. She also showed excellent vision as a passer, consistently finding ways to set up her teammates and keep the offense moving. Her combination of ball-handling, playmaking, and ability to create for others made for a strong showing.       Caroline showed a strong ability to attack the basket during the 5-on-5 action at the Alma Elite Camp. She consistently looked to get downhill and made an impressive take to the rim, displaying excellent body control as she finished around the basket. Caroline followed that up by knocking down a bucket and then immediately creating another opportunity by jumping the passing lane and stealing the inbound pass. Her ability to put pressure on the defense while also making plays on the defensive end made for a strong showing.
