GVSU Elite Camp was organized, fast-paced, and challenging, designed to put prospects in situations that would thoroughly evaluate them by the staff. Campers had numbered/colored pennies that made it easy to transition between games, evaluate, and provide media coverage for some new faces. The environment truly felt like an elite camp because of the structure and quality of the prospects in the gym. I learned new drills that I'm excited to use in the future, and had a blast watching some of my favorite prospects compete together in a high-stakes environment. Here are several prospects who made a splash in the gym:

UPCOMING PGH EVENTS (Use "Evan26PGH25Off" code for discount)

The Freshman Showcase (2030s), August 22nd

Registration Link

The Expo (2027-2029s), September 26th

Registration Link

Andie will be an instant playmaker in the DeWitt backcourt, which is difficult to do for a program known for pumping out talent. She was a Top Performer at GVSU Elite camp and had no problems separating herself against the older girls. Andie has advanced fundamental skills and instincts/IQ for her age, which, combined with her length as a point guard, is why she's an elite prospect in this class. One of her highlight plays happened when Andie sprinted up the floor, adjusted to a deflected pass during the fast break, scooped up the loose ball, and transferred the ball quickly to score an inside hand finish over her head. She has excellent body control and balance in the lane. Andie side-stepped a defender in front of the rim for two points, utilized a pro hop, pivoted, and hit a turnaround floater off the glass. She penetrated off the dribble and made a quick transfer to her shooting hand to score a mid-range jumper, then kicked the ball out to the corner for an assist after drawing the midline defender. Andie recognized a size advantage, pinned her defender with a strong seal, stuck with the play to secure the offensive rebound, then finished off two. She buried a corner three and scored a layup with a soft touch on a baseline drive. Andie will be one of the headliners attending our Freshman Showcase.

Kaylee lit it up for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] on the PGH circuit over the past few months, and that momentum continued to show at GVSU Elite Camp. Her quick-twitch shiftiness shakes defenders on the perimeter, opening up lanes to drive or shoot from the outside. Kaylee slammed the ball hard with a pound dribble, split a gap with an explosive burst, switched hands at the last second, then finished the speedy layup. She knocked down a smooth mid-range jumper, drilled a corner three, and converted a nice catch and finish in stride. Kaylee blew by defenders for a drive-by bucket and dazzled with a nifty behind-the-back move during the basket finishing drills.

Brinley turned in an impressive all-around effort that separated her as one of the top court generals on the floor during GVSU Elite Camp. Her scrappy defense, passing vision, shifty ball-handling speed and control, footwork, efficiency around the basket, and accuracy from beyond the arc were staples to her game. Brin hit a silky smooth step-back three off the bounce and added a deep wing three off the hop. She faked out a defender in the paint using a show-fake spin combo move to score a layup with style and went by with a dribble burst for a drive-by bucket. Brinley swiped the ball way in the half-court and immediately fired a laser pass up the court to create a transition scoring opportunity. She swiped the ball away again and took it right to the basket for a fast break finish. Brinley will be the leader for Hartland's backcourt again this season, and she's a prospect who should have some offers on the table at this point.

Lindy put her outside efficiency on full display during the GVSU Elite Camp, torching the nets from beyond the arc. A deep straightaway three, slot three, corner three, a calm and collected three off a crossover dribble at the top of the key: she was dialed in from downtown. Lindy demonstrated shifty quickness, advanced ball-handling variety and control, and the ability to get past defenders then finish in contested situations. She raced up the floor with pace in transition, went up strong, then scored through contact for an and-one layup. Lindy used a pocket dribble to get her defender off balance, then drove by to score another contested layup in traffic. She's a dynamic point guard that I'm expecting to stand out again at our Freshman Showcase.

Kenley is playing confident and consistent basketball. She's separated herself as a prospect at multiple tournaments and elite camps the past few months. I saw her play recently at GVSU Elite Camp and Oakland Elite Camp; she was a Top Performer on both occasions. Her size and muscular frame translate directly to the higher levels of the college game as a guard. Kenley ripped the nets with several three-pointers from different spots at GVSU, including some bombs from way downtown. She crashed the boards to secure rebounds on the offensive end and demonstrated excellent footwork to score contested shots inside off two feet. At Oakland, Kenley separated herself as one of the best prospects in the group. She scored many layups after creating space with her dribble and attacking downhill. Kenley used great pivoting footwork in traffic and finished confidently with either hand around the basket. One of her best was after securing an offensive rebound where she pivoted, went up strong to score with her left, then completed the three-point play at the line. Kenley chased down a drive to deflect the ball away on defense, scoring many crafty finishes off aggressive drives. Kenley went on an impressive run during the 1v1 segment. She swished a straightaway three off a jab step, scored a stride-stop step-through layup, ripped by for a stretch layup, and scored another drive-by bucket with her left. Kenley will be vital to West Catholic's lineup this winter, and she's provided plenty of support for the offers she's been getting.
