Carolinas Freshman Showcase Team 3 Review

Prep Hoops hosted the 2026 Freshman Showcase for the Carolinas this past week in Rock Hill. The event hosted a competitive field of talent, bringing girls from all across the Carolinas to compete over the 4 hours. In this article we will take a look at the players that made up Team 3 on Sunday, and the skills they each brought to the competitive field that was on display. While she is a little undersized on the defensive end, she was able to get under opposing guards and make it difficult for them to progress the ball on the offensive end.     Leanna showed up ready to play hard and impose her will on both sides of the floor. Her shots may not have been falling for the day, but she was still aggressive, showing a confidence and a trust in her ability. On the defensive end she used her speed to consistently stay in passing lanes and win the ball back for her team. In transition Leanna showed off her great speed, oftentimes leaving defenders behind.     A top ranked player here in the Palmetto state, Amari showed off her versatile skill set throughout the showcase. She knocked down outside shots over smaller guards, drove by and finished past taller post players, and facilitated for her teammates to keep them involved throughout her games.     As aggressive as her rankings suggest, Naja spent most of her day locking down opposing teams and burning them on the offensive side of the floor. A "do it all" guard that plays bigger than her size suggests, she plays reminiscent of other high level guards that have come before her in the Carolinas. Naja is ready to help lift her AC Flora team to new heights this coming season.     As a 3 sport player, the best way to describe Amyiah's game is "athlete." At times yesterday, it looked like she was the only player on the floor who wasn't tired. Her speed is an asset and she often used it to stretch the floor in transition, or to cut across the baseline leaving her defender wondering where she went. As she continues to develop her shooting touch, she will be a nice addition to the rotation at Boiling Springs High School.     Nevaeh was one of the best looking 3/4 prospects on the day. She is a tremendous rebounder who gets off the floor very quickly. Her long arms allowed her to grab multiple rebounds over taller players today from start to finish. Offensively she seemed the most comfortable operating from the mid range utilizing one and two dribble attack moves to knife her way to the cup.     A combo guard who likes contact, Marilyn is as physical as they come. Multiple times throughout the contests she used her impressive frame to create room for her shots. When attacking the glass, she would shed defenders completely allowing her to finish uncontested put-backs for easy points. From the outside, Marilyn showed the ability to knock down a few jumpers which forced the defense into tough positions. Look for her to continue developing into a high level player over the next few years.
