Smith is another of the 2030s that should ensure Gaffney keeps its winning ways going as it transitions back to being a 4A combatant. She previously played her middle school ball at Gaffney MS and is more than ready to showcase her skills at the high school level. Her bread and butter is more in the interior and one element of the game that she especially excels in is scoring buckets in the transition game. Smith is a multi-sport athlete who has also competed in track and field events in addition to her growing list of basketball achievements. She is fresh off an AAU season where she ran with Upstate Sting. 

Solid teams such as Gaffney also need presences in the paint and Smith is set to provide plenty of that in black and Vegas gold. Smith can provide timely offense for her team, but her bread and butter is what she gets accomplished on the defensive end of the floor. We at Prep Girls Hoops recently had got a glimpse of Smith at a pair of camp events – the Zaxby’s Shootout at 2A Blacksburg and the Chapin Shootout. Strong finishes at the rim, keeping a heads-up mentality and drawing contact are already among the strong points of her still developing game. Gaffney only graduated a pair of seniors from last season’s team, and one can expect for Smith to garner her fair share of minutes.
