If you have a big on your roster, it kind of gives you an edge when it comes to the game of basketball. Someone who is tall can lock down the paint by deterring or blocking shots, owning the boards, being a force; if you have that presence on the floor, it can make a world of difference. The 5 spot has been undervalued, but I think a lot has to do with the position transforming itself. You have very few girls who just battle on the blocks pound for pound. Typically, you have someone who will run down low and then fan out. Either way you slice it, if you play this position, much is expected of you.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this state and in this class, we have very few top-of-the-top girls. However, those who are in this class and are elite have gained the eyes of collegiate coaches at the next level. They are viewed as foundational pieces that are more than just serviceable. She has grown tremendously at Clarksville Christian and has established herself as one of the top bigs in the state. This kid is a tough competitor who controls the painted area. Knows how to establish herself down low, has a bevy of counter moves, and can finish at the rim with ease. She is a tenacious defender where she blocks shots, grabs boards, and doesn't allow her opponent to gain position near the basket. She's battle-tested, has competed and excelled on multiple stages, and truly is a force to be reckoned with. Grabbing over 1,000 rebounds and scoring over 1000 points, she will have a nice choice of school to pick from to commit to at the next level. She plays with poise and knows what to do with the basketball when a double team is coming. She's strong, skillful, and can finish around the rim, unleashing multiple counter moves or powering through an opponent. Defensively, she has proven that she can lock down the interior. Swatting shots, owning the boards, teams rarely get multiple possessions back-to-back. She's showcased her skills on the UAA circuit, and that success has translated to her becoming an important piece of what GCA does. College coaches are calling, and she will find a solid program to continue her career at the next level. She's a double-double nightly, not only rebounding and scoring the basketball, but also contributing in other statistical categories. Her body of work has earned her a scholarship to Mississippi State, where she will be a nice interior player who will command the paint. Growth. Determination.Heart. Work. Works that describe this young lady's journey to being one of the top centers in her class. Starting out based on her height, she gained the skills to exploit the low block area. Over time in the lab and on the circuit, she has expanded her game to where she can stretch the floor, start transitional breaks, and attack from outside in. Her role on her club changes as she can create and exploit mismatches. A leader, a multi-sport athlete, one who works hard at her craft and excels. She will be a solid addition to a program at the next level.
