Spend enough time around basketball, and you'll hear conversations about points per game, shooting percentages, and recruiting rankings. Those things matter. But after nearly two decades of coaching and evaluating players, I've learned that the qualities that often determine who wins games—and who earns the trust of coaches—rarely appear on a stat sheet.   They're called intangibles.   You can't always measure them, but you can always see them. Here are the top impact players from the Adidas 3SSB Girls' Championship in Rock Hill, SC.    If I had to point to one player this summer who perfectly embodies the intangibles that coaches crave, it would be [player_tooltip player_id='1307232' first='Nyla' last='Knipp'] (c/o 2028) of the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'] 16U Adidas 3SSB program in Washington.   While many evaluations begin with points and shooting percentages, Nyla's impact starts somewhere else—her relentless motor.   Possession after possession, she competes with an intensity that rarely takes a play off. Defensively, she is the catalyst that fuels her team's success. Her anticipation, active hands, and willingness to pressure the basketball consistently create steals and deflections that ignite transition opportunities, often leading directly to easy baskets for her teammates.   What stands out most is that Nyla's defense doesn't just generate offense for herself—it creates offense for everyone around her. Nyla's coach from the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'], Trevor Tsuchikawa, regularly has her guard the opposing team's best scorer, and Nyla rarely disappoints. Often keeping that player well below their scoring average.   She embraces the parts of the game that don't always show up in the box score but often determine who wins. Whether she's diving on the floor for a loose ball, tipping a rebound to a teammate, taking a charge, chasing down a seemingly lost possession, or disrupting passing lanes with steals, she consistently makes winning plays.   Equally impressive is her unselfishness.   Nyla plays with a team-first mentality that every coach values. She understands that success isn't always measured by who scores the basket but by who creates the opportunity. Those are qualities that elevate an entire team and build winning cultures.   From a scouting perspective, players like Nyla are invaluable because effort is consistent. Her tenacity, grit, competitiveness, and willingness to do the difficult work every possession are traits that translate to every level of basketball.   I firmly believe her relentless work ethic, defensive mindset, and commitment to the intangibles will allow her to make an impact at the collegiate level. Any college program looking to add toughness, character, and a player who embraces winning basketball would be fortunate to have her.     Grit and determination clearly run in the Knipp family. Like her sister Nyla, [player_tooltip player_id='1314163' first='Raina' last='Knipp'] (Issaquah High School, WA - c/o 2029) brings relentless effort and toughness to every possession. She is a tenacious defender who never backs down from physical play, attacks tough rebounds, and isn't afraid to dive into traffic to create jump balls or make hustle plays that energize her team. Raina plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'] 15U Adidas 3SSB program and will look to continue her development this fall with her school team.   At the Adidas 3SSB Girls' Championship in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Raina took another step in her development by expanding her offensive game, averaging 6.0 points per game on 53% shooting, along with 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. As her confidence continues to grow, so does her impact, making her another player whose toughness and versatility will attract college programs.     [player_tooltip player_id='1051361' first='Myla' last='Larry'] (Mymy), a crafty guard from Union High School (WA), possesses one of the best court visions I've seen all summer. She consistently puts her teammates in positions to succeed with her exceptional passing, unselfish play, and ability to read the floor. Whether she's penetrating and kicking to an open shooter or spinning through the lane to finish at the rim, Myla plays with poise, creativity, and purpose.   Myla played with the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'] 17U Adidas 3SSB squad all summer, and her coach, Buck Buchanan, discussed that since joining his program Myla was able to unleash her creativity, freedom, and a refuse to lose mindset into the spring/summer season.   Beyond her skill set, Myla's energy is contagious. She is an outstanding teammate who brings enthusiasm from the bench and carries that same determination, grit, hustle, and heart onto the court every time she checks into the game. Her love for the game is evident in the way she competes and elevates those around her.   As I am writing this article, I just learned Myla has committed to Cal State University, Northridge (CSUN). CSUN is so lucky to have Myla, someone whose unselfishness, basketball IQ, and team-first mentality make everyone around her better and contribute to winning basketball.     [player_tooltip player_id='928159' first='Raymiah' last='Jackson'] (Class of 2027, Emerald Ridge High School, WA) made an immediate impression this spring with the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'] Adidas 3SSB 17U team, establishing herself as one of the premier power forwards on the circuit. Her calling card is her relentless defensive presence. Raymiah consistently matched up against some of the nation's top post players, using her strength, physicality, and tireless work ethic to limit their production. She bodies up in the paint, pushes opponents off the block, attacks every rebound, and never hesitates to dive on the floor for a loose ball. She simply outworks her opponent.   What stood out just as much was her resilience. Despite battling a significant shoulder injury during the second half of the summer, Raymiah continued to compete with incredible determination. While no player should have to play through an injury, her perseverance reflected the toughness that has become her trademark. As her coach, Buck Buchanan, puts it, "She refuses to quit and will out-hustle everyone."   Off the court, Raymiah's personality shines just as brightly. She brings energy, laughter, and genuine joy to her teammates and fans alike, reminding everyone around her why they fell in love with the game. Her combination of physicality, relentless effort, and infectious enthusiasm makes her the kind of player every college program would be fortunate to have.     [player_tooltip player_id='1151387' first='Daisy' last='Walker'] (Class of 2028, Redmond High School, WA) joined the [program_tooltip program_id='715278' first='Northwest' last='Greyhounds'] Adidas 3SSB 16U team for the second half of the summer and quickly proved why she belongs on college coaches' radar. Daisy embodies the very definition of hustle and heart, playing every possession with a relentless motor and a competitive edge that consistently impacts winning.   One of the first things that stands out is how often her defense fuels her offense. Whether she's forcing a turnover, jumping into a passing lane, securing a tough rebound, or outworking opponents for an offensive put-back, Daisy has a knack for turning effort into points. She seems to find herself in the middle of every key play, making winning plays that don't always show up in the box score.   As a taller shooting guard, Daisy offers outstanding versatility. She finishes through contact with confidence, rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and isn't afraid to battle against bigger, more physical players in the paint. Her willingness to attack the glass and create second-chance opportunities reflects a toughness that can't be taught.   What separates Daisy is her consistency. She competes with the same intensity from the opening tip to the final buzzer, embracing the dirty work that helps teams win. Players with her motor, defensive mindset, and physical style of play are difficult to find! As her offensive game continues to develop, she has all the tools to become an impact player at the next level.
