Oakland University Elite Camp brought over 60 prospects to the O'Rena for a combination of skill stations, small-sided games, and many full-court 5v5 games. The entire coaching staff was actively engaged with prospects throughout the stations and games, which added value to the experience for attendees. Here are six prospects who played like they had something to prove on the court:

Oakland Elite Camp, August 9th, 2026.

UPCOMING PGH EVENTS (Use "Evan26PGH25Off" code for discount)

The Freshman Showcase (2030s), August 22nd

Registration Link

The Expo (2027-2029s), September 26th

Registration Link

Nylah is Michigan's top-ranked center prospect in the 2029 class, booming with potential at her height, with the physically imposing frame and strength inside to match. Nylah overpowered the field at Oakland Elite Camp in the paint, which wasn't surprising, but it was her willingness to step out into the mid-range and take 15-foot jumpers that I really liked. As a high-level front-court prospect, that's a skill that will take her projection up a notch. Nylah knocked down a shot from the free-throw line and popped out to shoot another jumper from the corner. She caught passes with strong hands in the paint, used effective pivots to get the scoring angle, and converted many high-percentage shots at the rim off two feet. Nylah protected the basket on the defensive end, sliding over to swat shots, including a two-handed block where she simply snatched the ball away during a layup attempt. Nylah muscled her way into position for offensive rebounds and scored the putbacks. I made a special note of how active she was as a rebounder on both ends of the court. The future is bright for Nylah, and she's going to be a force again as a sophomore at Fraser.

Natalie recently picked up her first D1 offer from High Point, and it's easy to see where that high-level projection comes from. A long wingspan as a guard-wing, combined with advanced fundamental skills for her age, makes Natalie one of the top incoming freshmen. She got after it in every phase during Oakland Elite Camp. Natalie closed out hard to block a shot, ripped by a defender with a burst for a drive-by layup, and made smooth transfers to her right and left for multiple finishes in traffic. She showed her perimeter range by drilling a wing three off the catch and finished strong off two feet after pinning a defender in front of the rim to present an easy target for an entry pass. Natalie will be an instant playmaker at the varsity level with Detroit Country Day this winter.

La'toria was one of the best surprises of the day at Oakland Elite Camp. Her aggressiveness as a driver and overall impact on both sides of the ball stood out. La'toria outworked the defense to corral an offensive rebound, retreated to the corner, then buried the corner three. She used a shifty crossover dribble to penetrate a gap, accelerated to the basket, and finished the contested bucket in traffic. La'toria earned multiple trips to the foul line by driving to the basket with determination and converted free throws at the line. Her quick hands poked the ball away for a steal on the defensive end, and she'll definitely be a playmaker to watch in the Summit Academy backcourt this winter.

Hadleigh is a prospect that you never have to worry about as far as hustle, effort, or playing equally hard on both ends of the court. She's consistent and checks the boxes you look for in a higher-level forward prospect. Strong physically, high-motor, persistent rebounder, runs the floor well, good hands, good footwork, plus vision as a passer, makes the right plays, sound footwork, goes up strong inside/not timid, and can stretch the floor with her mid-range/perimeter jumper. Hadleigh attacked on a face-up drive to score a contested finish, worked hard to secure an offensive rebound and pivoted to convert a putback, drained a free throw jumper after corraling another offensive rebound, and closed out hard with a high hand on a corner three to make a vicious block. She had a great day at Oakland Elite Camp and will be a formidable front-court presence in the Grass Lake lineup this winter.

It's always fun when I get the chance to see an out-of-state prospect from the region for the first time. Natalie had a very solid day at Oakland Elite Camp, moving very well for her size, demonstrating great instincts as a passer, and a versatile skill set that translates to the higher levels. She plays with a cerebral presence, makes good backdoor cuts, sets strong ball screens to create open driving lanes for guards, catches passes with soft hands inside, and stays active on the glass. Natalie secured two offensive rebounds on the same possession, used a great spin pivot to score off two feet after pinning her defender deep with a strong seal, finished with a fluid transfer off the catch next to the basket, and showed the ability to hit a mid-range jumper from the elbow. Natalie is a post prospect I'd be excited to see again at the Indiana Sophomore ID Camp coming up.

Lucy turned in a complete effort at Oakland Elite Camp and some of her moments definitely deserve to be added to the highlight reel. One of those plays happened when Lucy shuffled quickly to block a shot, snatched the defensive rebound, immediately looked to score, pushed the ball with pace coast-to-coast, and went up strong to score the contested bucket. Her on-ball pressure forced turnovers; she had multiple blocks and finished contested layups with a soft touch in traffic. Understanding how to move without the ball and fill space are important qualities to have, and that's why Lucy is a prototypical combo guard. She recognizes when to cut to the basket and when to fill open spots on the perimeter. Lucy cut backdoor for a smooth catch and finish and added a crackback three from the slot. Aggressive defensively and assertive on the offensive end, Lucy was one of the standout performers at camp.
