She stood out early during the 3v3 segment: scoring a contested bucket off a face-up drive and stunning a defender with a jab step before driving by to earn a trip to the line. Surry continued to impress with Team Eight at the PGH Illinois Freshman Showcase. Surry has excellent passing instincts, and as the defense converged on her dribble, she knew where the ball needed to go. Surry threw an accurate pass out of the high post to an open perimeter shooter for an assist on a corner three and showed her own range by sinking a long jumper from the corner. She won battles inside to secure many offensive rebounds and attacked off the dribble. Surry faced up, drove to the rim, and made a smooth transfer to her left hand for the finish. She made a nice spin move off a drive, read the shot off the rim, and showed her athleticism by tipping in the miss from an improbable angle.

Abby's physicality, strength, and length gave Team Eight an advantage inside at the PGH Illinois Freshman Showcase. She applies good pressure on opposing ball-handlers, maintaining a wide and athletic stance to cut off the dribble, while keeping her long arms active to close passing windows. She penetrated off the dribble and kicked the ball out to open teammates instead of forcing up off-balanced shots, leading to assists. Aubrey used quick crossover dribbles to create driving lanes and wasn't afraid to go up in traffic with either hand around the basket. One of her highlights was when she used a great high-rip move with a drop-step pivot to get a scoring angle, then went up strong off two feet to score the contested bucket. An element to her game that I particularly liked was her basketball IQ. She recognized advantages on the offensive end, then pointed and directed others about where the ball needed to go based on where the defense was positioned on the court. Livi moved to open space off the ball and wasn't afraid to pull it from beyond the arc. She anticipated a pass and jumped it for the steal. Livi has the speed to get by off the dribble, and her instincts running the one or two spot will make her a very productive player at the high school level. She was a solid contributor for Team Eight at the PGH Illinois Freshman Showcase.

Taja turned in a solid day for Team Eight at the PGH Illinois Freshman Showcase. She showed confidence as a perimeter scoring threat and drained a smooth three from the corner. Taja recognized an open driving lane and took full advantage, attacking hard downhill to score a layup after catching the pass on the perimeter. She used both hands comfortably in the open court and kept her eyes up, which led to fast break points for teammates. Taja will be a solid addition to her high school program.

Livi is a quick point guard who demonstrated qualities that coaches like to have in their backcourt. She had sharp handles and utilized wide retreat dribbles to escape pressure on the perimeter. Livi kept her head up to see the trap coming and was able to pass the ball out.
