The 2030 Freshman Showcase brought together a talented group of prospects for a full day of competition and exposure. Players had the opportunity to showcase their skills in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, giving our scouts plenty of opportunities to evaluate them in different game settings. The showcase also provides valuable media exposure, with coverage from our scouts reaching thousands of views on X and our written evaluations giving players another way to get their names in front of the basketball community. One of the things that makes the Prep Girls Hoops showcases unique is that every participant receives coverage in our articles. My coverage at this event focused primarily on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. Here are some highlights from each player on Team 7.

Ava is a guard for Team 7 who showed different ways she can contribute offensively at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She knocked down a mid-range jumper and also made a strong cut to the basket, finishing at the rim. Ava showed her ability to create in transition as well, grabbing a defensive rebound and immediately pushing the pace before delivering a great pass to a teammate.

Aliyana brought plenty of activity on both ends at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she poked the ball loose defensively and immediately hit the floor to fight for possession. During 5v5, the Team 7 guard continued to make an impact with her quick hands, creating steals and transition opportunities. She came away with a steal and quickly pushed the pace, and on another possession took one coast-to-coast before drawing a foul at the rim. Aliyana also showed she can get downhill off the bounce and was relentless on the offensive glass, tracking down numerous rebounds to give her team extra possessions.

Isa made her presence felt on both ends during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 7 guard used her quick hands and instincts defensively to come away with a couple of steals, while also recording a block out on the perimeter. She stayed involved on the offensive glass, tracking down extra possessions for her team. Isa also showed her ability to create for others, attacking the lane, drawing the defense, and kicking the ball out to an open teammate.

Samara set the tone with her defense during 3v3 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, showing that she can make things difficult for whoever she is matched up against. That carried over into 5v5, where the Team 7 guard continued to apply pressure and compete on the defensive end. Offensively, she attacked the lane and found an open teammate with a well-timed kick-out pass. Samara was also extremely active on the offensive glass, pulling down numerous rebounds and converting some of those extra opportunities into putback buckets.

Thia played with a strong presence during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 7 wing consistently put pressure on the defense by attacking the basket hard and showing no hesitation when challenging defenders at the rim. She showed the strength to absorb contact and still finish around the basket. Thia also worked hard on the glass, using her physicality and effort to come away with rebounds on both ends of the floor.

Maeva showed a well-rounded game throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she knocked down a mid-range jumper, showed a solid handle, and read a passing lane for a steal. She also delivered an impressive wraparound pass into the post, showing her vision and ability to find teammates in tight windows. During 5v5, the Team 7 guard stayed active on the glass and connected from behind the arc. She also created for others by attacking the lane, drawing multiple defenders, and finding the open teammate once the defense collapsed.

Irelynn showed plenty of creativity with the ball during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 7 guard is shifty with a strong handle, allowing her to create space and work her way into the lane. She showed a crafty touch around the basket and used a smooth spin move in traffic that was difficult for the defense to contain. Irelynn also moved well without the ball, making a well-timed backdoor cut and finishing for a bucket.

Brinley showed her versatility throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she put the ball on the floor for a strong slash and finish while also showing her range by knocking down a three. During 5v5, the Team 7 forward made an impact on the glass, pulling down rebounds and converting numerous offensive boards into putback buckets. She ran the floor hard in transition and was rewarded with multiple scoring opportunities, while also showing her passing ability with a great find in the open floor. Defensively, Brinley used her length to disrupt plays, getting her hands on passes for deflections and steals while also protecting the paint with multiple blocks.
