Maeva is another under-the-radar guard who caught my attention at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase with her ability to contribute in several areas. During 3v3, she showed a confident handle, knocked down a mid-range jumper, and anticipated a passing lane to come away with a steal. One of her best plays came as a facilitator, when she delivered an excellent wraparound pass into the post, showing both creativity and court vision. During 5v5, the Team 7 guard continued to show her versatility, staying active on the glass and stretching the floor by knocking down a three. Maeva also did a nice job creating off the bounce, attacking the lane and drawing multiple defenders before finding an open teammate. Her combination of ball handling, shooting, vision, and ability to create for others makes her a freshman prospect worth continuing to follow.

Maeva showed a well-rounded game throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she knocked down a mid-range jumper, showed a solid handle, and read a passing lane for a steal. She also delivered an impressive wraparound pass into the post, showing her vision and ability to find teammates in tight windows. During 5v5, the Team 7 guard stayed active on the glass and connected from behind the arc. She also created for others by attacking the lane, drawing multiple defenders, and finding the open teammate once the defense collapsed.

Maeva captivated me right from the start of Northwood Team Camp. Her quickness, and playmaking on both sides of the ball stood out. Maeva was a lethal weapon for Swan Valley from beyond the arc. She buried a pair of deep wing threes, drained a smooth triple from the corner, and added a filthy step-back wing three off the bounce that hit nothing but nylon. Maeva turned up the heat on opposing ball-handlers with her perimeter pressure, resulting in deflections. She changed directions swiftly with a combination of crossovers and behind the back dribbles to escape pressure in the backcourt. Maeva looks ready to make an immediate splash at the high school level and I’m excited to see her again soon at the Freshman Showcase.
