PGH MI Freshman Showcase: Team 9 Evaluations

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2030 Freshman Showcase brought together a talented group of prospects for a full day of competition and exposure. Players had the opportunity to showcase their skills in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, giving our scouts plenty of opportunities to evaluate them in different game settings. The showcase also provides valuable media exposure, with coverage from our scouts reaching thousands of views on X and our written evaluations giving players another way to get their names in front of the basketball community. One of the things that makes the Prep Girls Hoops showcases unique is that every participant receives coverage in our articles. My coverage at this event focused primarily on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. The Team 9 guard is shifty with the ball and used a nice step-through move to work her way through the defense. In transition, she consistently played with her head up, surveyed the floor, and delivered some well-timed passes to teammates. Her court vision also showed in the half court, where she attacked the lane, drew multiple defenders, and found the open player once the defense collapsed. During 3v3, she showed her hustle by chasing down a ball and saving it before it went out of bounds. During 5v5, the Team 9 guard made plays on both ends, including a block and a well-timed backdoor cut that resulted in a bucket. She showed the ability to get downhill and was active on the offensive glass, collecting numerous rebounds and converting some into putbacks. The Team 9 guard did an excellent job creating for herself and others, using her handle to get downhill and her strength to work her way into the lane. When multiple defenders collapsed, she consistently recognized where the help was coming from and found the open teammate, showing impressive court vision and passing ability. Kaylin was also a threat from the perimeter, knocking down shots from behind the arc. During 3v3, she made her presence felt defensively by recording a block. During 5v5, the Team 9 forward showed a nice inside-out game. The Team 9 guard is shifty with a strong handle, allowing her to change direction and get downhill quickly. She showed some touch in the mid-range by knocking down a jumper and gave the defense another scoring option to account for. She protected the rim well, coming away with multiple blocks, and consistently worked the glass on both ends. Her activity on the offensive boards led to second-chance opportunities that she converted into putback buckets. The Team 9 guard displayed a solid handle and made a great read attacking the baseline, drawing two defenders before kicking it out to an open shooter. She also showed her range by knocking down a three and stayed active on the offensive glass, converting a putback. During 5v5, the Team 9 forward showed off her footwork, using a tough spin move in the lane and later grabbing an offensive rebound before going to a smooth step-through around the rim. She was active on the glass, consistently battling for rebounds on both ends of the floor.
