Shining Stars from the DMV Freshman Showcase

The DMV Freshman Showcase was loaded with young talent, and there were plenty of players who made their presence felt throughout the day. As we continue highlighting the next wave of DMV prospects, this group of freshmen stood out with their skill, athleticism, competitiveness, and ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. Here are more shining stars from the DMV Freshman Showcase who caught our attention and put themselves firmly on the radar.    Jada opened the showcase showing out during the 3-on-3 games. She displayed a good three-point shot along with a soft touch on her mid-range turnaround jumper. She also rebounded the ball well and was active around the basket. When the action moved to the 5-on-5 full-court games, Jada continued to shine, knocking down the corner three off the catch and showing the ability to create and connect from beyond the arc off the dribble.     Audrey was very active on the floor and showed a good handle throughout the showcase. She displayed range from beyond the arc, knocking down threes off the catch and in transition. Although she was on the smaller side, she played with no fear defensively and was willing to pick up and defend anyone with the ball. Her activity, confidence, and competitiveness stood out on both ends of the floor.     Yani had some nice takes off the dribble throughout the showcase, consistently finding opportunities to attack the basket. She was also very active on the boards, chasing down rebounds outside of her area. She was especially effective on the offensive glass, where she turned second-chance opportunities into baskets.     Sienna had some impressive stretches where she seemed to make play after play. She was one of the better shooters at the showcase and was relentless on the defensive end. During one particularly strong stretch, she recorded a steal, followed it with an assist, came up with another steal, and then knocked down a three on consecutive possessions. Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor stood out throughout the showcase.     Tahlia had good size and showed a strong presence inside throughout the showcase. She finished well around the basket and displayed a variety of post moves, most notably a well executed drop step that she used effectively to create scoring opportunities. Defensively, she protected the paint well and competed around the rim. She also showed a soft touch in the post, giving her a nice combination of size, skill, and finishing ability inside.
