Sophomore ID Camp: Team 1 Recap

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Sophomore ID Camp is always one of my favorite events because it is strictly about development and seeing what players have added to their game. Watching players come back from year one and show growth in different areas shows us this basketball thing is serious to them. With multiple 5v5 games to evaluate, we also get a good look at who can consistently impact the game through scoring, defense, playmaking, and making the right plays. Below is a quick snapshot of what the players from Team 1 showed us last Sunday.</h3>    From the outside, Beetham shows no fear when it comes to letting it go and has a quick burst of speed that helps her get to the rim. She plays longer than her height shows, and with that combination of length, confidence, and athleticism, she can be a problem on both ends of the floor.     If you're looking for a player to be a 3&D threat, Lefevour can fill that role. She plays at a pace that allows her to maintain the same level of impact for all four quarters. A definite player to keep an eye on this season.     A lengthy player who can give you impact on both ends of the court. The sky is the limit for Fourdyce, but the outside work will be key. If she develops consistently, correctly, and with intention on what will translate quickly, she could become one of the top players in this class and have a big sophomore year. Strong potential.     A true combo guard who knows how to switch in and out of that role. The scoring ability is there, and it has continued to improve over the past year. She looks more comfortable creating for herself while still knowing when to settle in and facilitate.     The confidence with the ball handling is there, and as she continues to add the ability to go north and south with the ball, she'll become a tough guard to cover in the halfcourt, as well as the open floor.     Defensively, she stands out, and the length alone, outside of her strength, is how she gets a lot of her impact. She does a good job using that length to bother ball handlers, get into passing lanes, and make things tougher around the rim.     Communication and support are talents beyond her skill set. Hunter was one of the loudest players in the gym, and her energy definitely rubbed off on her teammates. She stayed engaged throughout possessions and honestly helped keep the group connected on both sides of the court.     Johnson doesn't shy away from using her strength on the drive. She doesn't need to be the fastest to get to her spots, and once she gets there, she has the strength and touch to convert through contact.     Huber has the stature to be a dominant post player and shows good mobility. As she gets more comfortable and confident with her role on the court, she can add some real depth on the offensive end, especially with her ability to impact the game in the post area.
