Under the Radar in Northern Indiana

About once a year I like to go through various areas of the state and highlight players for different reasons. In this specific article, I wanted to focus on 6 prospects (3 in 2027, 2 in 2028, and 1 in 2029) who are either listed on the watch list, or not at all included in the rankings at the release of this article. All 6 of these prospects come from schools in Northern Indiana, but more specifically, from the counties of St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Kosciusko, and Fulton, which include familiar cities like South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth, Warsaw, and Rochester.   .    I've seen Addison a couple of times with her high school team over the last couple of seasons, but this July I was able to catch her with the Southwest Elite team, and she shows a lot of potential. I know she has picked up some small college interest/offers since, and for good reason. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, bouncy, and she can run the floor. She is still developing a consistent offensive game, but defensively, she is a really nice rim protector, she pursues rebounds outside of her area, and she has enough athleticism to sit down in a stance and defend out on the perimeter.     I can remember back to Madisyn's Freshman year...the Comets were highly thought of in Class 1A, and they had a group of upperclassmen people were excited to see. Then on opening night, Madisyn comes out and steals the show with a nice offensive performance. Since then, she has continued to develop her game nicely as a traditional point guard. She is strong with the ball, she makes good decisions, plus she can still shoot/score it when needed. She is also a crafty, effortful defender. She has committed to Division III St. Mary's by Notre Dame, and she could play right away there.     Mia is a strong, physical, high-motor front-liner who figures out different ways to be productive each time she takes the floor. She is great in the mid-post, where she can attack and shoot it from there. She can put it on the floor, create contact, and finish, but she also has some touch to the 3-point line. At the small college level, she brings a great deal of versatility that coaches like. If she can continue making her handle and perimeter jumper more consistent, I think she can work into not only being a true wing but also being a contributor during her first year of college.     Skylee is an incredibly long, fast, and bouncy prospect. The two things that stood out to me most about her this Summer were her nonstop motor and her willingness to play with some physicality, despite needing to build her own strength as well. She comes up with rebounds outside of her area, she finds the outlet and sprints the floor well, and she is a nice multilevel defender, whether she is protecting the paint or out on the perimeter taking on bigger guards and wings.     Lydia is a very solid, game-managing type of point guard who just recently popped up on my radar. She does a nice job of taking care of the ball, she gets her team into their offense, and she doesn't make the same mistakes over and over again. She has a solid to strong frame at her size, she has a little length, and she moves well in most directions. She can knock down an open rhythm jumper, and she has good shot mechanics, but she is a pass-first kid who is definitely looking to include others when she breaks down a defense. She should have a good Junior year.     This Mia kind of has some similarities to [player_tooltip player_id='1820381' first='Mia' last='Hurford'] (above). [player_tooltip player_id='1814082' first='Mia' last='Hibbard'] is strong for her age, she plays with physicality, and she doesn't mind contact at all, whether she's driving it to the hoop North/South or defending/rebounding. What separates this Mia is her volume of perimeter shots, plus her accuracy when shooting it outside. She is a real sniper from distance, so you must play her tight around the perimeter. You almost have to defend her with a semi-physical "big" who has good speed and lateral quickness. Elkhart Christian will be a top team in Class 1A this Winter.
