You Tagged Us, We Watched: Summer Film Session

One of the best parts of covering girls basketball is seeing the game from as many perspectives as possible. Throughout the summer, we were tagged in countless clips and highlights from players, teams, programs, and families across social media. We genuinely enjoy seeing those plays and appreciate everyone who takes the time to tag us, as it helps us stay connected to players and keep up with them since we can't be everywhere.   For this summer film session, we went back through some of the clips we were tagged in from July and throughout the travel ball season to highlight players who caught our attention. These clips are just another piece of the evaluation process, but they can help us discover new names, follow up on players we've already seen, and stay up to date on what is happening around the state. Here were some players I watched film on:    Staci continues to show an advanced skill set for her class and has the ability to compete comfortably against older players. She plays with good control and uses a strong hesitation move to create separation before attacking or getting into her shot. Staci can knock down shots on the move and off the dribble while also using a quick release to get her shot off before defenders can recover. She is a true three-level scorer who can finish with either hand around the basket which gives her multiple ways to attack defenses. With her combination of skill, pace, and scoring versatility, Staci projects as one of the top players in her class in Florida.     Bria is a three-level scorer who continues to show a well-rounded offensive game. She has solid range from deep and does not need much space to get her shot off, while also doing a good job getting to her sweet spot for a midrange jumper or long two. Bria uses shot fakes effectively to create cleaner looks and does a nice job getting to two feet and using her jump stop to stay under control. She competes on the defensive end and rebounds well for her position to add some value beyond her scoring ability. Her ability to score at all three levels while contributing in other areas makes her a player worth tracking in the 2029 class.     Mila finds ways to make an impact with her ability to play within the flow of the offense and make smart plays. She does a good job getting her feet set when a teammate drives the lane to make herself a reliable catch-and-shoot option when the defense collapses. Mila also keeps her hands active defensively and does a good job finding teammates who cut into open space. Her shooting, defensive activity, and feel for making the right play give her multiple ways to contribute.     Riley continues to show why she is such an intriguing two-way prospect with her combination of athleticism, versatility, and feel for the game. She plays with good speed and consistently makes hustle plays on both ends of the floor. Riley has a high release on her jumper and can score at will when called upon, but she is also an unselfish playmaker who consistently looks to create for her teammates. She is a strong passer who can thread the needle with one-handed deliveries and make difficult reads on the move. Her frame, length, and versatility for her position give her plenty of tools to impact the game in a variety of ways.     Brooklynn consistently brings a high level of effort to the floor, especially on the glass. She fights for offensive rebounds nearly every possession and does a great job staying active rather than getting caught watching the ball in the air. She has good mobility and moves well both with and without the ball from the forward position which allows her to find scoring opportunities and keep defenses moving. Brooklynn also does a nice job drawing fouls and showed a solid midrange jumper with good touch and rotation. Her motor, mobility, and willingness to do the dirty work make her a player who continues to quietly build her game.     Abby showed a polished offensive skill set with her shooting and feel for the game over the summer. She has a good stroke with repeatable mechanics and does a nice job creating space for herself by relocating to open areas when the defense shifts. Abby surveys the floor well and takes what the defense gives her, whether that means putting the ball on the floor or making the right pass without forcing anything. She plays under control with good pace and does not need much space to get her shot off, while also possessing deep range. Her combination of shooting, decision-making, and offensive poise makes her a player to keep an eye on this fall and winter.     Ella brings poise and feel on both ends of the floor. She looks comfortable getting to her midrange game and uses a high release to get her shot off over defenders. Ella understands the importance of spacing and does a good job avoiding unnecessary congestion, which creates better opportunities for both herself and her teammates. She is also willing to make the extra pass when it leads to a better look and does a nice job drawing fouls and capitalizing at the free throw line. Defensively, she competes and brings consistent effort which gives her multiple ways to impact the game beyond scoring.     Grace continues to show a versatile offensive game with her ability to score and create for others. She gets her shot off quickly and does not need much space to get it up which makes her a difficult matchup when defenders give her even a small window. Grace also does a good job rewarding her post players, whether by finding them running the floor or delivering strong entry passes when they establish position inside. Her midrange game is just as promising as her outside shooting, and she can put the ball on the deck to create opportunities for herself or her teammates. Her combination of shooting, playmaking, and feel for the game makes her a player worth tracking in the Panhandle.
