City Clash Was a Showcase for Talented Guards

City Clash was a showcase for talented guards. The forwards made their presence felt with aggressive rebounding and strong play in the paint, but the guards took center stage. They handled the ball, knocked down shots, attacked the rim, and created plays throughout the event. From their shooting and finishing to their defensive pressure, the guards set the tone.

[player_tooltip player_id='727591' first='Jaiden' last='Peterson'] set the tone early with physical drives to the rim, initiating contact and finishing through it. She was also one of the top shooters at City Clash, connecting on three after three. With her ability to score both inside and beyond the arc, Peterson was arguably the top perimeter scorer in the building. Peterson's intangibles were also off the charts: confident, tough-minded, and tenacious on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220993' first='Sofia' last='Acuña'] may have been the most polished and dangerous point guard in the gym. Acuna got there with ease and was one of the event's top shooters. She can knock down the three, pull up from midrange or use her speed and creativity to get to the rim. She is crafty with the ball, handles physical play, and finds ways to finish through contact. Gonzalez brings that same toughness to defense, where she plays aggressively and pressures the ball. Confident and skilled on both ends of the court, she is an all-around player. She's a baller and left that impression at the City Clash.

[player_tooltip player_id='1410954' first='Yifan' last='Zhou'] played well, and her athleticism and bounce stood out. She handled the ball, got to the rim, and showed an explosive leap when attacking the basket or going after rebounds. Zhou also made plays in sync with her teammates, showing a good feel for the game. She has game. She was one of the biggest surprises at the City Clash. Zhou scored at all three levels, and her ability to put the ball in the basket was a big surprise.
