Lya Gonzalez Lya Gonzalez 5'7" | CG Central Pointe Christian | 2027 State FL is as good as any guard in the 2027 class. She can knock down the three, pull up from midrange or use her speed and creativity to get to the rim. She is crafty with the ball, handles physical play, and finds ways to finish through contact. Gonzalez brings that same toughness to defense, where she plays aggressively and pressures the ball. Confident and skilled on both ends of the court, she is an all-around player. She’s a baller and left that impression at the City Clash.

Central Pointe also adds some familiar in-state talent with Lya arriving from Schoolhouse Prep. She provides additional depth in the backcourt and gives CPCA another option to work into an already diverse group of perimeter pieces.

Lya made her presence felt with her defensive intensity and two-way impact, emerging as one of the more disruptive guards in the 2027 class. An elite on-ball defender, she uses her athleticism and relentless motor to apply full-court pressure, consistently making opponents uncomfortable and forcing mistakes. Offensively, she’s effective getting downhill, putting pressure on the defense, and finishing through contact with strength and control. Her jump shot also appears much improved which adds another dimension to her game that defenders now have to respect. With her defensive edge and continued offensive development, Lya looks poised for a big summer.

Lya was one of the most impressive players in South Florida this high school season. She averaged 22.1 ppg, 5.9 apg, 4.8 rpg, and 4.6 spg for Schoolhouse Prep. Her experience playing 17U with her home country of Panama in FIBA play clearly shows in her poised approach to the game as well. She controls the pace and pushes the ball under control in transition. Lya can also hit the deep ball with confidence off the dribble. Her basketball IQ and court awareness on both ends has moved her into our Top 10.
