PGH Expo: Team 9 Evaluations

The 2026 Expo featured more than 100 prospects competing through four hours of predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, giving players plenty of opportunities to showcase their games in front of PGH scouts and college coaches from the D2, D3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO levels. The event provided more than just competition, as players were able to compete alongside talented players from across the state while also receiving instruction from different college coaches throughout the day. Every player in attendance receives post-event coverage, social media exposure, and evaluations from the Prep Girls Hoops staff, making sure each prospect has an opportunity to be seen beyond what happened on the court. My coverage focused on Teams 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9. Here is a closer look at what I saw from the players competing on Team 9 at The Expo:    Nadia, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, made an impact with her speed, effort, and defensive presence. She used her quickness to pursue the ball on the offensive glass, tracking down numerous offensive rebounds and creating extra possessions for her team. Nadia also brought toughness to the defensive end, where she competed hard and made things difficult for the players she was guarding. Her communication was another important part of her defense, as she consistently talked with her teammates and helped keep everyone connected throughout possessions.     Bailey, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, used her speed to make an impact in the open floor and turn defensive plays into immediate transition opportunities. After securing a defensive rebound, she quickly pushed the pace with her head up, looking down the floor as the defense tried to recover. Bailey also showed good anticipation on the defensive end, reading a pass and jumping the passing lane for a steal. She immediately took it coast-to-coast, using her speed to get to the rim and drawing a foul on the finish attempt.     Chandler, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, showed her ability to create offense both from the perimeter and off the dribble. During 3v3 action, she found her rhythm from behind the arc and got hot from deep, connecting on multiple threes and making the defense account for her shooting ability. In 5v5 play, Chandler showed another part of her scoring game, using a quick crossover to create separation from her defender before pulling up and knocking down a mid-range jumper. She handled the ball well throughout her time on the floor, showing good control and the ability to use her handle to create space for her shot.     Maliyah, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, brought good effort and activity to both ends of the floor. She competed well defensively, staying engaged and making her matchup work for opportunities. Offensively, Maliyah showed she could attack off the dribble, using a strong baseline rip to get past her defender and create an advantage toward the basket. She also worked hard on the glass, pursuing the ball and coming away with multiple offensive rebounds to create extra possessions for her team.     Selina, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, showed good footwork and the ability to find different ways to score around the basket. During 3v3 action, she used a nice move at the rim, staying under control and using her feet to create the angle she needed to finish. In 5v5 play, Selina attacked well off the ball with a strong slash to the basket and also showed her ability to finish through contact by converting an and-one. She created another scoring opportunity by working for position inside, sealing her defender and giving her teammate a clear target before finishing the play around the rim.     Malia, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day with the impact she made on both ends of the floor. She has an impressive handle and used a quick crossover to create separation and get past defenders consistently. Around the basket, Malia showed both strength and awareness, converting an and-one while also doing a great job of keeping the ball extended away from her body on finishes to protect it from shot blockers. She showed another layer to her scoring game with a smooth spin move in the lane that she turned into a controlled pull-up jumper. Malia was equally active defensively, anticipating passes and jumping passing lanes while providing tough individual defense. Her combination of ball handling, creativity off the dribble, finishing ability, and defensive playmaking made her one of the more impressive guards I watched at The Expo.     Jocelyn, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, made an impact with her awareness and willingness to do the little things that helped her team. Defensively, she anticipated well, jumping passing lanes and getting her hands on passes for deflections. She also competed on the glass and rebounded well throughout her time on the floor. Offensively, Jocelyn helped create opportunities without needing the ball, setting solid screens that freed teammates and forced the defense to react. One of her better reads came along the baseline, where she used a retreat dribble instead of forcing the play, stayed patient as the defense shifted, and then found an open teammate cutting to the basket.     Madisyn, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day and put together an impressive all-around showing from the guard position. During 3v3 action, she quickly showed her range by knocking down deep back-to-back threes, while also connecting on a mid-range jumper and creating for teammates with several well-timed dimes. In 5v5 play, Madisyn continued to show how difficult she can be to contain with the ball in her hands. She has a shifty handle, can get downhill, and sees the floor well when the defense begins to collapse. She continued to connect from behind the arc, converted an and-one at the rim, and created separation with a smooth step-back into a mid-range jumper. Madisyn was active defensively as well, showing good hands and creating one of her better transition opportunities by picking her defender's pocket and taking the steal coast-to-coast. Her combination of shooting range, handle, court vision, ability to create off the bounce, and defensive activity made her one of the more complete guards I watched at The Expo.     Presley, playing on Team 9 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day with the athleticism, playmaking, and defensive activity she brought to the floor. During 3v3 action, she showed good footwork around the basket, using a smooth Rondo move to create the angle she needed at the rim. In 5v5 play, Presley made an impact defensively by reading the offense, jumping passing lanes, and turning those reads into steals. She looked comfortable with the ball in her hands, showing a nice handle and the ability to create opportunities for others. Her passing was especially effective in transition, where she consistently played with her eyes up and delivered several well-timed passes to teammates running the floor. Presley's combination of athleticism, ball handling, passing, and defensive instincts made her one of the more impactful players I watched throughout the day.
