College Coaches Taking Notice of Catalina Foothills Program

The Catalina Foothills Falcons have one goal in mind this season and that's to make it to the State Championship Game. It won't be easy. The Falcons are coming off back-to-back semifinal losses. They've reloaded and gained some good experience this off season. They might have the deepest roster in Southern Arizona. Led by Head Coach Jake Martinez you can expect a deep playoff run for this squad. Below ill cover some returning starters but focus one the talented depth for the Falcons.

The new transfer will be a great addition to an already impressive roster. Alfaro gives the Falcons a big advantage in not only the post but also in perimeter shooting. Alfaro draws a lot of attention in the paint and when she has the ball she can quickly hit some of the best shooters in Southern Arizona for a shot. She has impressive vision and makes her decisions quickly. She is currently the top center prospect in the Southern Arizona 2027 class. She has gotten some college interests over the last couple weeks with more expected.

Meyer had an impressive showing at the Southern Arizona Showcase where she was selected as the Girls MVP. She is arguably one of if not the top perimeter shooter in the Arizona 2028 class. She'll be a vital piece for the Falcons this season. Has a knack for coming up big in clutch situations. She has some talented passers on her team and with her quick release from the perimeter Meyer could put up some good numbers this season.

Perman has impressive rebounding ability and is very quick to score on offensive boards. Has some great post footwork. In her game against Centennial she had a nice spin move that got her around her defender and she finished with a floater. Can shoot from the perimeter very well. Will grab the defensive board and advance the ball in transition. Has a lengthy wingspan she uses to block and contest shots. Holds down the post and can get out and guard the perimeter. Perman looks to be one of the more underrated wings who can impact the game at a high level.

Waggoner is another young player who is easy to overlook on this talented roster. It's not until you watch her play that you see just how much she impacts winning for the Falcons. Plays off the ball really well. Moves with purpose, Cuts hard and scores quickly off the pass. Constantly crashing the boards and just makes plays. Very solid perimeter defender. Plays with confidence and an impressive motor. Isn't afraid to make the hustle plays.

Peterson has truly gotten better every year. Now entering her junior season for the Falcons she seems to have a certain "swagger" and confidence to her play. Right away you notice how great of a defensive player she is. A strong body with impressive footwork and lateral movement who is disruptive. Forces turnovers and quickly gets the ball going in the other direction. Shot blocker and hustles for rebounds. Offensively has developed a very good perimeter shot. In the post will get right to work and scores off a right handed hook/floater very well.

Chief is one of the top players at her position in the state. She's recently received offers at the Junior College, NAIA and Division 3 levels. The reigning Region Player of the Year will look to repeat despite the new region alignment that now includes Salpointe Catholic which will spark a fun region rivalry to watch. Chief can simply do it all at a high level. She can score the ball very well from the perimeter or by showing her strength in the post. She impacts at a very high level and will look to complete her career by leading the Falcons to a state championship appearance.

Tiznado is another player for the Falcons who is starting to get the attention of college coaches. Recent offers include Ottawa (NAIA), South Mountain (JUCO). An aggressive and physical defender who will beat down her opponents with relentless pressure. Makes high level reads and moves on them. Has a high percentage three point shot off the catch. Plays with a lot of grit and hustles. Has an impressive motor and doesn't stop. She was crucial in their state playoff run that ended in the Semi-Finals. She was the leading scorer for the Falcons in the loss. Saucedo is a point guard who can see the floor at a high level. An electric play maker who can make the tough passes and scores the ball very well through contact. A terrific on ball defender. Saucedo has recently received and offer from Missouri Baptist University, and you can expect more to follow.
