This weekend we had our PGH The Expo events across the states of Iowa and Nebraska. During these events, we witnessed several prospects play their heart out and leave it all on the floor. In this piece we are going to talk about five prospects out of Nebraska, that did a great job at putting on some impressive performances throughout the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='1044999' first='Allie' last='John'] of Bennington High School is going to be a problem this upcoming season and she surely was at this event. John is in the conversation for the best player in the gym on the day because of her mixture of size, skill, and athletic prowess. This is a prospect with a fundamental shooting stroke from deep, she can post and handle herself in the lane with physical dominance, and she is a great teammate even though she is very skilled in her own right. During every single drill, skill event, or scrimmage competition that we had on the day, John stood out as one of the best and in a big way.

I think that everyone in attendance can agree that [player_tooltip player_id='1045013' first='Kendal' last='Heimes'] of Lincoln - Pius X High School was one of the best overall prospect on the day, as well as one of the best communicators. Every time something was happening, Heimes was talking through it for herself or a teammate. After what I saw on Sunday, I'm expecting Heimes to have a memorable high school season this Winter with her Pius X group. She is going to be able to run the SG/PG position to a T and she is going to have several other talented prospects on the floor with her. If they put together a solid strategy going into it, they are going to be a tough group to stop on any given night. As for Heimes individually, she is a college level prospect. It's not definitive at which level yet but she definitely can hold her own.

The most surprising prospect to myself on the day had to be SG/CG/SF, [player_tooltip player_id='1045017' first='Leslie' last='Garcia'] of Lincoln North Star High School. Garcia stands right around 5'11 and she is truly one of a kind on the hardwood from what I've seen over the past few days. Offensively, she can handle, finish in the post on either side of the hoop with either hand, she usually beats her opponent down the floor for easy layups or buckets in transition, she can spot up and knock down shots, and she has some nasty touch on the ball near the hoop. Defensively, her mixture of athletic ability and size is how she can handle almost any matchup thrown her way. Could be a faster guard or a bigger post, it really doesn't matter. Garcia is going to get stops on her opponent a majority of the time, no matter the situation and that speaks volumes. I'm not sure what's going on during the high school season but Garcia should start this Winter at Lincoln North Star. If not, she should be the first one off the bench cause in 85% of other places, she is a Day 1 starter at the Varsity level.

The upside and future potential that [player_tooltip player_id='1045019' first='Macie' last='Reiner'] of Bennington High School displayed this weekend was quite impressive. Reiner was a difference maker on both ends of the court, always making a solid player for her team in one way or another while she was out there competing. Reiner would be considered a 5'9 CG, that really thrives between the 1 and 2 position. She demonstrated yesterday that she can run either spot and be pretty thorough in her efforts. Bennington is going to have a very impressive underclassmen group this next few seasons. If they go about things correctly, by the time that those prospects get to being upperclassmen, they are going to be killers as a team and I can't wait to see that all unfold.

There is no surprise to what [player_tooltip player_id='1045009' first='Jada' last='James'] brings to the floor. I highlighted James to start off the weekend because I knew she could put together a weekend to remember and she did just that. James wasn't the best prospect in the gym but her overall, well-rounded game was up there. The reason I say James played really well is because she did everything, while not having to always score. When you look at her play in this event last season and you look now, you start to understand that mentally she is getting much better. Her shot selection is more efficient, she is trusting her teammates more, and she isn't only settling for jumpers while trying to score. Last Winter at Duchesne Academy, James played up and made waves as a Freshman. I'm sure that will be much of the same this Winter but we will have to wait and see.
