LBI Mitten Opening: Freshmen Steal the Show Pt 2

Each team played two games with games happening on adjacent courts throughout the day. Colleges representing multiple levels attended the event to recruit; several new and familiar faces emerged as promising prospects for their teams. She shot lights out from beyond the arc, drilling several smooth straightway and wing 3-pointers throughout the day. Lyla anticipated passes on the defensive end to create steals and dropped in multiple floaters with a soft touch off the dribble. She created separation from defenders with quick dribble combinations, dropping in multiple contested floaters in the paint. Mayrese showed her sharpshooting from beyond the arc with a quick step-back triple up top and another from the corner. Madison filled a need for her team by providing a perimeter shooting threat and drilling multiple 3s with confidence. Madison pushed the ball in transition, made crisp passes to open teammates, and handled the ball with poise. She shifted gears with her dribble to score a layup in transition and used a crossover to blow by her defender for a layup off two feet. Stella kept her eyes up as she pushed the ball in transition, penetrated through the middle of the defense before kicking to open shooters, and made the extra passes. She used her anticipation and length to steal the ball on defense, caused a foul making a hard back-cut, and knocked down her free throws. Stella showed her perimeter accuracy by hitting a step-back 3 and added a strong layup off two in the paint. She showed her outside range by knocking down a wing 3 and outworked the defense for an offensive rebound. Jillian won style points by using a fake-pass layup move in transition and a soft touch on her floaters. She split defenders with an explosive burst on her dribble drives and kicked the ball out to open shooters on the perimeter.
