Expert Analysis

Jylin was one of the best players at Live at Lakepoint that I had not seen prior to the event. It took about 5 minutes of real time and 2 minutes of game time to realize that she was a special player. She and Aubrey Bush Aubrey Bush 5'8" | PG Holy Innocents Episcopal | 2030 GA looked like they fit right in playing against some of the best rising Seniors in the state of Florida from Duval Elite and both are three years younger than those kids. Edmondson’s poise and patience for a 2030 was beyond impressive. She did not get sped up, made great decisions, and the right play almost every single time she had the ball. She has knack for finding her open teammates and made several passes that required a lot of skill to execute. One way play she cooly split two defenders got into the paint and hit Taylor Stanfield between her numbers and shoulders right in the shooters pocket for a corner three. She looked calm, cool, and collected running the offense, pushing the ball in transition, and slashing to the basket. She also drew the difficult defensive assignment of guarding Ameera Kone who is an excellent player with multiple division offers. Jylin won some plays and lost some plays in the match up, but did not back down, competed, and over did a good job against the talented scorer.

Jylin “Jigga” Edmonson is arguably one of the best rising 8th graders in the country. A three-level scorer with an advanced feel for putting the ball in the basket and can also make plays for others. She has a high basketball IQ and plays with a level of confidence and poise that most kids don’t posses at her age. Her Power 4 potential is undeniable, already holding an SEC offer from Mississippi State. Jigga recently transferred from Franklin County to Boyd County, and her arrival could mark a new chapter for the region. She could be the most highly touted prospect to play in the 16th Region since O.J. Mayo’s days at Rose Hill and all signs point to a very special career ahead.

Edmondson already has good size at 5’10 and just averaged a little over 9 points per game at Franklin County while starting as a 7th grader. Jylin shot over 34% from three and 46% overall. Those numbers would be good for a Senior, let alone a 7th grader. Edmondson is a name to remember for years to come.
