Expert Analysis

She has excellent footwork and a great euro finish for this small forward. Defensively she has a knack for the ball and she looks to make things happen. Also can post up and finish at the rim. Just needs to become a little more consistent.

Taylin is having a really good freshman season, averaging 10 points and 6 boards per game for a Woodford team that is in the thick of the 8th region title race. Wade brings energy on the defensive end and plays with a mean streak that you don’t always see in a player her age. Long term, I expect

Taylin impacted in many different ways. She made hustle plays, was very vocal on the floor, and set solid screens throughout game. She played passing lanes for steals and got a bunch of tie-ups. Taylin was hard to stop off the dribble and had no issue scoring through contact. I also liked the way she kept her head up and made good passes in transition. She has a good mix of physicality and finesse to her game.

For an eighth grader to burst onto the high school varsity girls basketball scene is one thing. For an eighth grader to perform the aforementioned and assume team captaincy duties is another. That leadership Wade has shown has also been by example as evidenced by the 9.9 points she averaged in 2023-24 for Frankfort. Wade has ran on the grassroots circuit with Lexington Crossover and will be taking her talents to Woodford County this coming season. One of the signature elements to her game is her versatility. Just as Wade can give a team a lift from the two in the backcourt, she can do the same in the frontcourt as a three forward.

Sticking with the competitiveness theme, Taylin could have very easily have stopped playing hard after numerous times getting hacked on drives or at the rim and no whistle from the referees. Instead, Wade just got back up and sprinted back on defense to try and make another play. Wade was one of the best players in the 3 on 3 setting and played well in 5 on 5. She was consistent all day long.

Taylin Wade had an amazing experience at UA Rise Session 1, and enjoyed playing against great competition from across the country. She did a phenomenal job coming up with steals and getting downhill in transition. She is fast and has a strong frame that makes her very hard to stop once she gets a full head of steam. Taylin scored well through contact at the rim, crashed the boards, and had her best game against the New Jersey Shoreshots.
