Kyah gave a strong showing playing up with Sol United 16U 3SSB throughout the weekend. I had the privilege of catching multiple games, and she looked better each viewing. A hyper-athletic and dynamic guard who gets after it on both ends. She is a really good defender who stays active, fights through screens, and gives opposing guards fits. She is an excellent slasher who gets downhill quickly and finishes acrobatically around the rim while feeding off of contact. Her energy and competitiveness really stands out, though still a raw prospect her potential is limitless.

The eighth grader continues to flash superstar potential well beyond her years, delivering big-time production against quality competition. The Lady Bulldogs have now won two straight games and will look to keep the momentum going Wednesday when they travel to Woodford County.

Kyah Curtsinger Kyah Curtsinger 5'8" | PG/SG Paul Laurence Dunbar | 2030 KY She was a top performer at our PGH Freshman Showcase, then truly burst onto the scene after leading Leestown Middle School to an FCPS 7th Grade Girls Middle School Championship. She generated even more buzz at the KBC Middle School State Tournament. A high-motor guard with nice length and athleticism, Kyah shoots it well from the perimeter and can pull up smoothly for midrange jumpers, but she’s at her best when attacking downhill, where she displays excellent body control and is a crafty and creative finisher at the rim. She also brings nonstop energy and effort to the floor on the defensive end. With her mix of skill, competitive spirit, and upside, Kyah is poised to become the next big prospect to emerge from the Lexington area.

I didn’t know Kyah is an 8th grader until a couple of days after the event and that makes her even more impressive to me. Curtsinger is lightning quick with the ball and showed off a strong skill level and was able to finish with both hands consistently. In her second game of the day, Kyah hit multiple step back threes and showed some high level passing ability. I’m interested to see where she eventually ranks in the 2030 rankings in a year or so.

At first glance, I didn’t recognize Kyah and assumed she was from Tennessee, but when I checked the roster and saw she’s a Kentucky kid, I immediately got excited. She has a great feel for the game at such a young age and looked confident running the offense as the primary ball handler for her team. Kyah knocked down a three from the wing and was active on defense, showing a willingness to compete on both ends of the floor.

I don’t think there’s a shot Kyah doesn’t like, or can’t make! Super athletic, such a creative offensive beast that can shoot well from long, or beat opponents off the dribble! Curtsinger plays like she’s on skates!
